I sent them an email to find out about the embroidered polo shirts and if they're like the one in Slowhands post... what we need is a thread for "who will actually buy a shirt?" thread :) with options like

a)yes- polos, tshirts, both work for me
b)no-whatever design is chosen
c)yes but only if it's the embroidered polo shirt
d)yes but only if it's a screen printed tshirt (assuming people don't have any ojection to where on the t-shirt it's printed)

and a size request... S, M, L, XL, XXL, etc...

Nice one SM, thanks

Once we have their reply we'll try to get some firm prices and people's orders accordingly then I guess

Thanks

got a quote but have re-jigged the image and resnt it as the quote ended up being huge due to an excessive stitch count. I'm hoping to hear back later today, ...then I'm off to the US tomorrow until next Thursday. I'll post whatever stage I'm at before I go though?

fwiw here's the logo reduced to 16 colours (patterened dithering) and with the background turned to transparent. It's likely to be either 4 to 8cm square. 8cm is what they quoted first, but the image has changed size now ... we await their reply...

I'll take a couple as well if they are reasonably priced.

the bigger the overall order the lower the price of the tshirts. The last quote I got (for "heavyweight" polos) would have made it about £22 per shirt but the new quote should be lower, aiming for about £12-£15:flirty:

Sounds like this is finally pulling together... You going to be able to post an image of the final shirt soon?

suicidal_monkey

This was the last quote, I am trying to get the price down to the same as the online price. The main reason for the larger than expected price was the design being too complex hence the simplified one...

QuoteI have just received your design back from our embroiderer and they have said that embroidery wont work with all the highlights but can do the design with 2 golds, white and black (with no double edge on the wings).
I am pleased to quote you the following:

25 Heavyweight Polo shirts @ £5.65 = £141.25
Embroidery Set-up @ 8cm wide, approx 22,000 stitches = £220.00
Embroidery Charge (25 items) @ £6.75 = £168.75

Total £530.00 ex VAT and del.

Terms and Conditions:

Individual poly-bagging is charged at £0.12 per item.

Delivery for quantities less than 100 items:
£10 ex VAT to a single UK mainland address.
Delivery for quantities greater than 100 items:
To be confirmed at time of ordering.

All prices quoted ex VAT in GBP.
Quotation is valid for 30 days.
Lead time is approx 10-15 working days.
Full payment required before customisation commences.

hopefully this'll be doable...but not quite sure about the "two golds black and white" thing :S

embroidery is troublesome, mainly due to the design being far too complex by the sound of it.

My guess is that with their simplified designs will come out a bit like:

This is taking longer and the embroidery option being more troublesome than I had anticipated. free time is kind of thin on the ground for me at the moment and I can't really be wasting time trying to properly edit (you know, without losing some of the detail that's disappeared by letting the gfx program guess) the logo down to a two-tone image, so if anyone else is able to take over this I can fwd the email discussion and image files. Please let me know if you can take the helm of this one. Cheers.
QuoteHi Ben,

Our embroiderer has taken a look at the new design and feels, with regard to stitch count, that it is no different to the original as it was already quoted to a simplified degree. They have said however, that if it were to be simplified more ie just one gold with a black running line, the stitch count would come down to approx 14,000 sts but it would look rather flat compared to the art work. I have quoted you on this option for your reference:

25 Heavyweight Polo shirts @ £5.65 = £141.25
Embroidery Set-up @ 8cm wide, approx 14,000 stitches = £140.00
Embroidery Charge (25 items) @ £4.75 = £118.75

Total £400.00 ex VAT and del.

Terms and Conditions as before.

If you have any further questions, or would like to go ahead with this order, please do not hesitate to contact me.

£22 per shirt is for the version with "two gold shades, black and white" so that'd be the best of those bad pictures... I just reduced the colours to 4 using photoshop/gimp, maybe they'll actively try to retain the text and stuff. fwiw I reckon for embroidery we'd want a specifically designed for purpose, non-shaded low-colour design (for e.g. two different colours onto a black shirt or something) Screen printing is probably better for complex images then...in which case what do people think?

Gorion

well, printing is good, the only disadvantage is that the print starts fading after a certain anmount of washing :P

I think no-one's come forward to pick up this banner from Monkey so has the idea been dropped ? (unless I missed something).

We've got just over one week to go so I kinda doubt this is going to happen

Can someone please update us ? (as we were thinking about having some as competition prizes and need to re-think otherwise).

Thanks

suicidal_monkey

last I got back from the company was that embroidery would not be cheap, and that the design would lose most of its colours (the expensive version was with "two golds, black, white") and there weren't enough people interested in it to make it worthwhile.

FYI, if you want a print tshirt you can get one done at Jessops for about £12.
