Operating System Query

This isn't really a technical question more a 'how should i spend my money' question.

At present i am running a evaluation copy (build 3790 sp1) of windows x64 windows from Microsoft and have until May to buy a full version. As far as i know this copy is an old watered down build of x64 and the full version is a more up to date build. Now i could on the one hand buy x64 now and wait a little bit for x64 vista or should i just wait for vista's x64 edition and just continue using the evaluation copy until then?

Stick with what you have if it works. Ask yourself what would changing give me (other than a larger overdraft).

By the tim x64 Vista comes out maybe the drivers will be available to go with all the kit.

seems stupid tho.. why would m$ publish 32bit if the new cpus are all 64?

its not like the old cpus are gonna have fun running vista...

Don't know. However I do know that the CD/DVD you get of Vista will have all versions on it. Only the licence key will dictate which version gets installed (seemingly)

It's mainly to do with driver support, the 32 bit drivers are more widely available.

And due to all the people who sit with older comps that run 32bit, they wont be able to run all of they eye candy but it will still install...

In all fairness i have had alot of problems with asus trying to get drivers for my soundcard etc to convert to 64 bit but asrock have been most helpful with all the relevant drivers availiable on their website. I have an all in one scanner made by hp and i can't use the buttons on the device as i only have basic beta printer drivers for 64 bit, which only support basic printing and scanning utilities. There seems to be a very slow turnover to 64 drivers since it was released.
