So ... I have choppy voice comms after map changes. When I join I can play one map with good VC then when map changes the VC becomes choppy.

I have a Soundblaster X-Fi Fatality and WinXP x64. Latest drivers.

If I turn off memory handling in BIOS (i.e. 64->32) then VC seems ok. But then I only run on 3 Gb instead of 4. Asus P5W DH.

Any ideas?

Is it only after map change?

Certainly, on Friday night, you  had choppy voice comms spasmodically.

How long after map change do they settle down?

Response (Harold)04/15/2007 05:54 PM Hello,

Do you have a different mic you can test? Customer ()04/14/2007 12:40 PM Hi,

I have added the line and it hasn't worked my voicecoms are still
intermittent. They are still working in cz however as that still uses the
old codec

> Response (Harold)04/11/2007 05:01 PM Hello,

Right-click on the file and then select "open with" and then choose notepad or wordpad. Then you can add/remove/edit the commands in your config file. When you are done, make sure you save the file as config.cfg NOT config.txt.

Please let us know if you have any further questions. Customer ()04/10/2007 03:50 AM how do i open/ edit a cfg file?

If you would like a setting to be saved, you will need to change these settings in your game menu's configuration, or manually add them to your config file in your game's directory. Make sure your config file is not set to "read-only". To find this out, right click on the file and select "properties". Un-check the box "read-only".

Your config.cfg is located in your Game (MOD) directory, for example (typically):

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\< Steam Account Name >\counter-strike\cstrike\config.cfg
or
C:\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\< Steam Account Name >\counter-strike\cstrike\config.cfg

If you have any further questions, please let us know. Customer ()04/03/2007 07:50 AM Thanks for your reply. How do i add that to my confg and where is it located
on my computer?

Please try forcing the old voice codec by adding the following command to your config.cfg file:

sv_voicecodec voice_miles

Please let us know if you have any further questions. Customer ()03/30/2007 07:20 PM >Hi,

I have a medusa 5.1 with the old plug in leads so there is no usb to worry
about. I have the most recent drivers for my soundcard and even rolled back
to my previous ones to see if that was the case. The voicecom is working in
the old variants of counterstrike just not with this new codec which is in
source. I have the audio settings set to headphones and i have gone through
the answer thread as requested. I still cannot get my mic to broadcast
constantly as it broadcasts on and off constantly.

> Response (Harold)03/28/2007 01:08 PM Hello,

In the game's menu, under the "Audio" settings - try switching your speakers setting to "headphones". If that does not help with the issue, then please also try using these commands:

One last thing to double check is to make sure that your sound card and USB headset (if you are not using the analog connectors) have the most recent drivers. Customer ()03/27/2007 07:00 PM I am using a medusa 5.1 headset. The weird thing is it works fine in
teamspeak and in everything other than source.

Quotei have this strange issue, i just installed another 1gb ram and now my X-FI card, regardless of driver-version will not let me set EAX in games

if i pluck out any of my 4 sticks of ram and boot up, it works fine and the games lets me select EAX for soundprocessing

QuoteIts a PCI- issue. the creative drivers dont support memory remapping features, so in your system adressing space for your X-FI doenst exist. PCI = 32 bit Adressing, 4Gigabyte needs 32Bit adressing space.

Found this on the Creative forums ... seems related.

I think the OP included a typo and it should read:

"PCI = 32 bit addressing, 4Gigabyte needs 64Bit addressing space"

Quite right.

I changed from 64 to 32 in the BIOS yesterday evening and VC was ok all evening. So. Who wants to burn down Creatives support center?`:ranting2:
