Call Of Duty II (Missing System File?!)

Hey Guys, (this seemed like the most appropriate place to post this)

I tired to install my copy of Call Of Duty II today, normally when you put the DVD in a screen comes up with the acitivision logo and then loads the options of install, uninstall e.t.c. However whenever i stick the DVD in, i get this message:

Executable 'E:\setup\rsrc\cod2.exe' had the following unrecoverable error:

Couldn't find library MSVCR80.dll (required by C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\MICROS~1\OFFICE12\MSOXMLMF.DLL)

Please ensure that it is installed

After this i tried to "explore" the DVD's contents and manually installed it through an "autorun" file. Once installed i managed to play online. But when i tried to play single-player mode i get the exact same message.

Is this a missing system file? Is it linked with office in some way? Much appreciated if someone could give me a hand.

I have changed the "Properties Pages->Conf. Properties ->Linker -> Debugging-> Generate Map File" switch to Yes. Now the error does not occour and the app runs well. I do not know why. The map file dipicts sm'thing like this

I do not knoow for what or why this happened nor the meaning of a map file nor the crptic words init, please be kind enough to explain.

Ok, i downloaded the correct .dll file and extracted it to the correct folder, (system folder in windows), and when i run the game again i get the same message along with this one:

Runtime Error!
Program: E:\setup\rsrc\cod2.exe

An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I took Duvel's advice and googled it, but i don't understand what they are saying about dealing with these problems. This is what i managed to find, really don't get it. click here

it looks like you have office 2007
 
i had that before with office 2007 installed, i uninstalled it and reinstalled and it worked fine, hope this works for you
