How do I kill........
.....the *******s who are holding a rave about half a mile from my house.  I've been awake since about 02.00am and it is impossible to get back to sleep when you can hear the bass line thumping away and reverberating throughout the very fabric of my home. :ranting2:

The Environmental Health Department:
On call 24 hours a day this emergency response unit seemed like a great place to start, so I called their advertised number and got through to a very kind gentlemen who told me that they were closed and that they did not work on bank holidays either.  No point having a chat with this chap though as he is an answerphone that gave me no opportunity to leave a message. :ranting2:

The Police:
I called them eventually at 04.00am as there were several neighbours who had also been woken up (middle of street discussions in the pitch dark) and they despatched an officer to the scene.

Called the Police again at 05.00am as the rave was still going on and the noise continuing.  Clearly the appropriate action when you turn up to a rave with 200+ people at it and a 30kW sound system is to ask them politely to "turn the music down a bit".  Yep, that's what they did according to their log.  Clearly it had sod all effect as the rave is still ongoing.  The police advised that there was little that they could do.  I said bollox and got it passed to a senior officer to review for further action. :ranting2:

Got a number from the police for the Environmental Health Department and spoke to a chap called 'Mike' who would give me neither his surname or a call reference and in fact seemed rather ****ed off that I had telephoned him despite the fact he was on night duty,  and already awake, paid to be there and his job meant he should have been 'happy to help'.  He seemed even more annoyed when I told him the police thought it was their job to deal with it.  Eventually the guy reluctantly agreed to page the on-call EH person to then deal with it.  :ranting2:

Way to go Tony, 10 years of tweaking, devolving power to local councils and developing your 'Plan for Britain' and your joined up local government has clearly still got its head up its arse. :ranting2:

The Environmental Health Department (Noise Abatement):
5.20am.  A nice lady from the NA people called.  She will liaise with the police and visit site with police backup.  She has power to close it down and police can confiscate equipment if she says so.  Finally we're getting somewhere.  Pointed out to her that the local council spent thousands of pounds advertising a 24 hour Noise Abatement team and published the 'office hours' telephone number not the 24 hour number.  She is sympathetic but they always publish that number apparently.  Maybe I'll give them the address of a shed on an allotment some 100 miles from my home next time they want to assess me for Council Tax.  :ranting2:

Way to go Milton Keynes Council for failing to deliver the availability of a 24 hour noise abatement unit as advertised. :ranting2:

It's now 05.40am on Sunday morning and I still have people turning up and parking near my house and walking over to the rave.  Nice security risk.  Most helpful suggestion I received during the night was from my wife.  Let all their tyres down she said.  That'll teach them she said.  Good idea I said.  Unfortunately you know that the moment you start letting the tyres deflate on the raver's cars that the police will arrive with a SWAT team and I'd be busted and in jail on a criminal damage charge faster than I can say "where the feck is the EH Noise Abatement team?" :ranting2:

The Environmental Health Department (Noise Abatement): (Part II)
The nice lady called back.  She has spoke to the police but they would like to deal with it when their shift changes at 07.00am.  I point out that they appear to have missed the crucal link between the period known as 'nightime' and when people usually sleep.  She seems to want to leave it to them, but upon further questionning confirms that the police cannot do much until an EH officer says 'too noisy' at which point the police can step in and close it down or confiscate equipment.  She also informs that the police advise her the organiser of the rave plans for it to continue until 8.00pm tonight! :ranting2:

Suggest in strongest possible terms that she needs to get a police escort and go down to the site and assess it for noise nuisance ASAP so that it can be turned down, off or it might be fire-bombed by a frustrated and sleep-deprived anonymous local resident.  Finally get her to agree to get the police to provide escort, although they will not be able to do this until after the police have had a cup of tea and some breakfast at the 07.00am shift change.  She will report back. :ranting2:

Annoyed?  Moi?  Don't get me started. :ranting2:

I remember when I was young I performed some kitchen chemistry experiments. Just mixing some common household chemicals and putting the mixture in a PVC tube and firing it up (outside) created a great smoke "bomb". The smoke was extremely thick and fire came to mind. Maybe a few of those babies placed in strategically places would have done the trick. :ninja:  Smoke'em if you got 'em. :boxing:

What a story. Has it gotten any better?

TeaLeaf

The news is brilliant.  The rave was due to finish at 8.00pm tonight, but OH WHAT A SHAME, it has absolutely poured down with rain here since 9.00am this morning and I believe the timely deluge has washed them little critters all away!

Lol glad to hear that! ..albeit some pre-emptive work to tone them down in the future would be good I guess, if they plan another rave...?
