sheepy

my personal opinion is no on BF

there was virtually no intrest in it last lan.

we could easily replace this with a better driving tourney.

I think we should do as sadako requested a couple of pm's ago. Basically, we hold off and see whats happening as we have a few release dates to come and we need to decide which if any could be at the lan.

Considering the activity within the community this is not a game we should support imo. It is probably better to promote both the WoW and LFS ideas put forward.

Leaving out Battlefields would be a mistake in my opinion. I was under the impression there was quite a bit of BFing going on, along with CSing. Maybe you were WoWing too much to notice? :eyebrow: In any event, a driving sim wouldn't be a substitute for a FPS anyway.
CS:S
BF2
LFS
WoW
You'll not stop people playing any of those games.
There may well be a case for introducing another game (in fact there IS a case for a new game. But which one? That's the killer question.

As for me I'l be mostly playing LFS, drinking, eating, talking, playing CS:S and BF2. Oh and drinking. There may be even a little time to squeeze in some drinking.

it is not a question of leaving out or stopping people playing a certain game it is rather a question of shall we prepare a server for a certain game. Last LAN people played STALKER even though it wasn't supported and no one complained about it. I think the people who wants to play BF can do the same.

Also I feel that the LAN SHOULD be a place to test out new games so we now if we should support a server or not. At the moment our current server runs at 10% workload i.e. we could support more servers and more games. We should consider doing this to attract new players and make old players come out of hiding.

Penfold

Historically I don't think we'ver ever really set up a dedicated BF server have we?

Usually it's one of the BIG / RIP fellas that gets it going as their enclave play it religiously. Bear in mind that if they all turn up then you're going to have them playing it and they account for something up to 15% of the total. Other people always join in so a healthy proportion of people will be playing it - ot whatever FPS the RIP guys have brought along (such as Stalker).

I wouldn't set up a server for it but I also wouldn't actively say that the LAN is going to be BF free. Just let it pan out imho

sheepy

as penfold said it was usually tyhe big / rip guys that stated bf2, but last lan they said that they dont play it any more (or very little)
