I got bioshock now for 5 days.
Played and all work fine till today.

What happend...

AVG virus scanner updated today when i turned my pc on.

So far no probs..

I started Bioshock and get virus alert.
Bioshock - exe ....was infected said AVG..
So when choose in option for repair and what happend ...
The hole game didn't work any more .
The AVG virus scanner delete my exe file.:ranting2:

So i did try too reinstall the game, after install it update some file.
Then i was getteing this mess "the bioshock patch file has an invalid signature...
HUUUUU???

Then it try's too update the file again and again ect ect.
Nothing works ...

I was bit ****ed so i googled some and find out that AVG last update marks the exe-file off Bioshock as some virus.
You can disable AVG but then it still dont works..

You will have too delete AVG from your pc and then it works...:flirty:

This topic in the first link states:

The PC demo of BioShock causes AVG to go nuts at it for containing trojans. It wouldn't install or load on a winXP partition until AVG antivirus was completely uninstalled. *Presumably* this is due to SecuROM, which also demands that other perfectly legit processes stopped

Gorion

the problem aint avg, but the tracking stuff bioshock installs with

afaik, it should be removed in the future
Guild Wars 2 - Characters: Dragelis / Estril / Viliona
Battle.net - LydonB#2167
Warframe - LydonB

Aye but the install and update works only when you delete AVG..

if you disable AVG it still wont work....I delete AVG and suprise it works.

Yeah, AVG isn't great. This is just a false positive. I use Bioshock with Avast and it works fine (it's also free).
Obviously free anti-virus software isn't as reliable as Nod32 or Kasperski, but Avast seems better than AVG.

Got now Avast cheers T-Bag...:)

AVG recently had a problem where it thought FEAR was a virus too, but it got fixed. Alas i'm not making the transistion to Avast as it's too piratey for my liking.

AVG is 1 of the most popular anti-virus progs, and no matter how good it is or isn't, on that basis alone Boishock developers should have forseen this and sorted it.:eyebrow:

I should market pirate branded merchandise theres a seemingly limitless supply of pirate themed names.

I have avg pro and thanks for the heads up kknd. When i downloaded wolfenstein: enemy territory which is a free game may i add after the 2.60 pdate avg did the same. If you have the free version its near impossible to get problems sorted. I haven't emailed tech support yet with my subscription but i just hope its alot better than the faq you get with avg free.

To quote Gorion again.  AV makers (free or otherwise) should not have to patch their software to ignore crappy tracking and security software that lame game providers build in to their system and do not tell you about until your system falls over and complains.  Any software which requires you to shut down legit processes to enable their RootKits-R-Us to take hold should have their balls dragged slowly over a cheese grater drenched liberally in tabasco sauce.  May the warmth they will feel in their loins allow them some idea as to my loathing for such software.  It will not be installed on my PC until their covert code has been deleted.

You're making me hungry now, but on a serious note, i won't be playing the game either until all this complication has settled down, anyway it will be a little cheaper probably by then! :narnar:
