Pity it's such a crap song for something important.

If people have already reclaimed £1bn in bank charges, and there are loads more claiming it just means that interest rates with drop (or rise for borrowing), or they'll charge you to bank with them. It means everyone will suffer beause people didn't choose the right account.
I went overdrawn once and it cost me £50 (some from the bank some from the company taking the payment) and I payed it and didn't moan, then changed my account so I can go overdrawn without getting a penalty. If people did that they wouldn't be in this situation now.

Would you grumble if you got points and a fine if you travelled at 61mph in a 60 zone?

Would you then grumble if you recived a £35 bank charge going £1 over the limit?

When I signed up to my bank I signed a contact saying I wouldn't go overdrawn, and if I did I'd agree to pay the fine. When I passed my driving test I agreed not to mow down children, park on double yellow lines and speed.
If I get caught I won't be happy but I'll pay the fine.
I've got an Overdraft of my account which if I got £1 overdrawn my account balance shows as -£1 (available:£199).

In the past my parents have cancelled with the bank direct debits and the company has reinstated them causing them to become overdraw. In those cases the bank refunded the charges for becoming overdrawn and for any fine incurred by any other direct debit that would have cleared failing to.

My grumble with banks is not something avoidable like incuring charges, but rather when you pay money online it transfers in 3-5 days time (like a cheque), but leaves your bank the same day, whereas it is instant from a local branch. Why? if it is insecure don't allow it, and if it is fine then transfer it as quickly as they can in a branch. They just pool all that interest and it makes them a fat bit of extra profit.

Cool line drawn in the sand and I'm on T-Bags side, as per the speeding thing doesnt compare, as one is a contract between company and customer the other is the law of the land...

two speeding tickets payed next day as per bank charges and wage slips dont bother checking any more and P60's i hate them was getting fed up of £18K going to the tax man and £15K to bills and about £2k going to running the cars per year after 2 years of that never looked since....

As per the song yep pretty cool at least they have a sense of humour about it..

Also if this court case makes its mark and is granted as an unfair charge then bank charges will have to be paid back with no penalties on the customer, but what about the affect on the economy on the whole and what would this mean that Northern Rock and other banks would slip deeper into the red and the monies already given by the tax payer would be lost?
Are you going to come quietly, or do I have to use earplugs?

I suppose my point was more around the size of punishment against the 'crime'.
