So, obvious answers, real answers that I know, or google?

Has someone been watching Q.I.?

smilodon

Oh oh! I know two of these.

Panama hats come from Equador (I think). And puffinus puffinus is the latin name for the Manx Sheerwater, which is a type of duck. Oh and the October Revolution was is November, although I think it has something to do with the Julian and Gregorian calendars. So in fact it was in October if you use the older Julian calendar.... or something.

Finally I imagine the back box would be some bright colour like yellow, so it would be easier to find on the bottom of the sea?

As to all the others :g: ...

I'll answer the ones I do actually know -

cat gut is from sheep,

Canary island is named after dogs i.e. canine, the birds are named after the island not the other way round,

my mum informs me king George VI's name is Albert,

Chinese gooseberry is kiwi fruit?

black boxes are red

& the obvious one to throw us of is Gorilla gorilla gorilla is a Gorilla  (i think)

The others would have to be guesses or googled.
