What's so bad about it?

I think these two probably cover the majority of discontent:

* A new online copyright infringement regime (known popularly as Three Strikes, but it's not really - see below) and
    * Proposed new Government powers to amend copyright laws without Parliament's prior approval

The irony is that we may now actually be glad we have a European Court of Human Rights that plans to sink this piece of undemocratic shite before it can do any damage.

tbh i think that we are screwed with this, 2 reasons


1) the conservatives support it, and lets be honest i cant see labour winning
2) ghosty will find a way round and we will still have to put up with his huge pron collection at the lan:boxing:

As for why it's bad. It's because copyright law is already a mess. Every single person in the country has been guilty at some point. Ever put a song onto a tape, were you there every time that it was played? Might the cd and tape have ever been played at the same time at different locations.

Back things up on your computer and you're in grey territory.

Then put a black and white view point pushed through by the corporate fat cat copyright holders. Mix in some horrible government level control and you can start to see the mess it will be.

It amazes me that rather than making services like 4OD, iPlayer and SkyPlayer better, cheaper and more extensive the copyright holders try and force people who download to pay extortionate fines.
