Admin grounds rules

Below i set out the admin ground rules for our servers:

v1.0 (29/3/10)

  • As an admin you must show a fair and mature      attitude in game and within teamspeak
  • If you receive abuse from other players keep calm and make sound and clear decisions.
  • If in doubt ask a Game Leader or part of the deadmen management team we are all here to make sure the servers run smoothly
  • Your duty is to make sure the server runs smoothly if it is down give it a gentle kick to make sure systems are good to go.
  • You must lead by example and respect other      players regardless of the players ability
  • Swearing should not be used in game and must not      be used within teamspeak before 8pm GMT and 8pm BST
  • Any player not abiding by our rules of teamwork      and tactical play must first be warned before being kicked
  • When kicking or banning post a message stating the reason for the action. e.g- JohnDoe Kicked for spawnkilling
  • kicking is not a jovial action and should not be      taken lightly, anyone seen kicking people for fun will receive a  formal      warning
  • Kicking and banning is seen as the last resort      and aids to keep our server in a friendly environment will result  in your      admin privileges being revoked.
  • Any swearing in game or abuse towards players      must be acted on immediately
  • Any player wearing the dmw tags with an unknown      username must first be politely asked who they are.
  • If the player does not respond a check on the      username search facility on the forum will quickly show whether  they are      or are not a dmw community member
  • The player must be warned and any subsequent      swearing or bad language will result in a kick/ban
  • Any player not abiding by our rules must first be      kicked before being banned
  • Any player coming onto the server after a kick      must be warned that any subsequent beahviour as previously shown  will      result in a kick
  • If the player has been kicked twice a ban can be      issued for 24 hours
  • Ban's must be recorded in a topic on the forum
  • If a ban has been issued a topic must be created within 24 hours     in the battlefield bad company 2 forum and a report by the admin  who gave the ban must be provided summarising why this was issued
  • PM's from members regarding complaints must      involve the Game Leader regardless of severity.
  • The complaints procedure is currently thus: PM      received> send to Game Leader> Game Leader responds>  (referral to      management if needed)>  resolution
  • Chain of command within BC2 section- Game      leader> Game Admin> Public Admin
*edit* 3/4/10- amended point 6 by adding "8pm GMT and 8pm BST" for clarification on times

For no# 13 to be true we need to see if we can add an alias section to the user info.
Juggling Hard Disks over concrete floors ends in tears 5% of the time.

Good work Ghosty, thanks. :)

I have a couple of points or queries:

QuoteSwearing should not be used in game and must not      be used within teamspeak before 8pm
I know the game is an 18 and there's swearing in-built but our guidelines state that we don't condone or encourage swearing regardless of in-game, in forum or on TS. This is due to the diverse age range of players we have in our Community. I know we all swear but we must also try and contain it and can't condone it - regardless of a watershed.

Quotekicking is not a jovial action and should not be taken lightly, anyone seen kicking people for fun will receive a formal warning
When the server is full we have had members asking on TS about getting in. I know that some admins have kicked people in game who are not in a squad to let members in. Can we please have a defined rule for what is and isn't acceptable. We do have a policy of not kicking to make way for members but conversely I understand that it's pointless having people playing BC2 and not in a squad. Perhaps give them a warning to join a squad and if they still fail to do so then kick them? (as in theory they're breaching point 7 of not playing to teamwork and tactical play). Can you decide and add what you decide to the ruleset pls.

QuoteChain of command within BC2 section- Game      leader> Game Admin> Public Admin
You wouldn't particularly know this yet but we're doing away with Public Admins and only having Game Leaders and Game Admins.

Nice one Ghosty. A good, succinct set of rules like this is perfect..

?? Everyone that's playing the game should have posted their BC2 Game Name in the appropriate thread. If a dMw member appears that we're not familiar with they should be encouraged to go to the forum thread and make a post.

Simple.

Thanks for your feedback Pen. See my comments below:

It's important to point out that this is guidance for the Admins only.

We will always discourage swearing but we all know that on a Friday night things are a little bit relaxed. The rule simply recognises that once and a while the odd swear word after the "watershed" will be ignored. I'm sure that no admin our dMw regular would tollerate anyone going off on tirade of swearing..

At this moment in time, space for our members isn't an issue (see Blunt's thread). I see no point in creating a rule that we will rarely have to enforce.

What I have seen first hand is that most people find slots on the map change. The rules set out in this thread are the approach to Admining the game and not the Game rules per se. There will be a Squad Rule (target to be in place by the weekend) and that will be enforced as layed out in the Admin Rules. (ie: Warn then kick).

I would prefer that we don't announce changes until they come into effect. Thanks for the "heads up" but until the elmination of "public admins" is official we will continue to look for PA's to flesh out the admins on the server.

Again, thanks!

Ahh OK - I presumed this list will be publicly published?
Aren't we publishing a public list?

The structure change is coming into effect literally in the next day or two which is why I mention it (or as soon as Smilo gets a chance to sit down and does the laborious archiving and new permissions {top man} and as soon as I write the post to the Community, get it signed off and change the badge names.

Please do get some more admins but just note that they'll be game admins not public admins.

:)

Guys... Any further comments on this or should we consider finalising? Also, we should consider translating this into a list for BC2 Players too!

big-paddy

I'm happy with it.

Not sure what you mean about the list for BC2 players.

Gone_Away

Sorry.. I meant to say Ground Rules for the BC2 Players.. There's another thread already for this.. My Bad.
