As we've effecitvely split the LAN role into off-site and weekend roles, here is a list of the jobs required at the LAN and who's currently taking responsibility for them.

This has been discussed and agreed with Sheepy.

1. Sorting out Dates with the hotel :
PEN & TL
2. Pre-Lan hotel liaison :
PEN
3. Seating plan :
PEN & TL (then posted here for tweaks)
5. Public Liability Insurance :
PEN
4. Name cards :
tbc
5. Organisation of competitions :
Sheepy
6. Organisation of Admin Committee :
Sheepy
7. Organisation of job vacancies :
Sheepy
8. LAN Packing & Preparation Instructions Thread :
Sheepy
9. Maintaining Booking Thread :
Sheepy
10. Correlation of Rooms booked vs attendees  :
PEN
11. Confirming Steak Night and Room layout requirements  :
PEN
12. Lan Countdown Clock (three months prior) :
Gandalf
13. Sponsorship forms and progression: Ghost_Mjr

At Lan:

1. Build Up of LAN (networks etc) :
 Us lot and Admin helpers
2. Coordination of Competitions (getting buckets for names etc) :
Sheepy   (If still required with advent of Oldie's app. Otherwise just a bucket for the raffle).
3. Drawing of teams : Oldbloke (via some fancy coding)

4. Auction and Raffle :
Sheepy & PEN
5. Running the Competitions :
Sheepy with Games Committee helpers and Oldie's web-based app.
6. Break down of LAN :
Us lot and Admin helpers
7. PR bit with Rob/hotel :
PEN, TL (and us lot really)
8. Supermarket trip to get prizes :
Whoever's least pished.
9. Prizegiving and Helping Hand Award:
TL
10. Photography at LAN - requirement from sponsors: TBC
11. Ensuring photos get sent to sponsors: Ghost_Mjr

This is a work in progress which I'll try to keep updated as things evolve.

Comments etc welcome :)

edit: Added Ghost_Mjr regarding sponsorship

OldBloke

We should ditch the team picking at the dinner. Shouting across a restaurant is not on particularly when some of the shouting included swearing.

I will produce a web application allowing LAN attendees to sign up for the compos. It will also pick the teams at random and produce the ladder.

You could thank me by giving me some bloody Hunter training. Inches away every time I am, Inches. I could weep :frusty:

Anytime you're on, give me a shout and we can set the server up for practice, no zombies etc....

Now delete this because it's off topic ;)

erm.......I have an old router and a 24 port switch if you want it for the LAN, no charge.

that would be fantastic oldie - should save a lot of work - will just have to manually add those that forget to sign up when at the lan but thats a lot less work - and im all for less work!

Sheepy appears and begins to stroke my head. According to his slurred drunken speech I am "lovely and like a fuzzy felt". Thankfully he soon leaves and passes out somewhere. [/quote]

TeaLeaf

They can sign up on the website as it will be attending the LAN on the server I presume as last time.

Thanks. I'll take you up on that training.

We bought some new switches for the LAN so won't need it for the physical setup but if you want to donate them (or sell them and give dMw a cut) then we'll happily add them to auction if they're worth cash money or to the raffle if they're not.

That does of course presume that you'll actually turn up to the LAN and not go swanning off to Spain on another stag do or whatever :flirty:.
