Could this be our natural successor to CoD4?

Dedicated servers, mod tools, developer console...

We are watching Black ops closely to see if it will be suitable for us to adopt.
However, it is still not clear what the server situation will be, and this is the crux.
There are reports that it will be like BC2 with multiplayer servers only on Gameservers*.
Hopefully we'll get some facts soon instead of rumours, but I'm not holding my breath.

*Just read the wiki which confirms this

Aye, it's not looking good at the moment.  What really peeves me is that they milked the 'no dedicated server' press for months on this and then come out with the same 'no dedicated server' as they were deriding in the press, they just tried to wrap it up as a dedicated server option whereas in reality it is no more a dedicated server option than we have with BC2.

Bummer. Back to the drawing board then...

Think my money is on Medal of Honour. It looks promising, from what I can remember it is going to have dedicated servers etc and looks similar in term of game play.

TBH single player doesn't really interest me in any game.
Bring on the MP battles:boxing:

No games in this genre have good single player. A game either focuses on single player and bolts on multiplayer after, or vice versa. I wouldn't dream of paying Ã,£30 for an FPS with single player only, Bioshock was Ã,£20 when it came out and I felt royally ripped off, and farcry 2 was Ã,£25 and I felt short changed. Though if CoD 4 were Ã,£40, based on how much I've played it I wouldn't feel it's bad value for money. I don't care if a game has a 20 hour single player mode...I'll play it once and then it's over. Multiplayer I can play 20 hours a month for a couple of years.

Ok heres where we are at.

The game is to be released 9/11/10.

Anyway only one server provided currently has access to the new cod.

Servers are pretty cheap: Ã,£9.56 for a 18 player server per month.

The game is Ã,£39.99 on steam has steamworks so we can grab it from amazon for Ã,£29.99.

So should we chance having a server?

Ã,£39.99!!!! Are steam having a laugh? :ranting2:

Already pre-ordered mine from Amazon for the Ã,£29.99 + Ã,£1.99 Next day delivery which will arrive on the day of release (or so they say) :D

Also, I'm hearing the game is Huge, 16gb or something ridiculous, I don't fancy that on my 2mb line

This is more in Blunt's court as he's COD4 Game Leader.  It was also discussed in the Game Leader Meeting that was held last week.  The summary of that discussion was that the jury is still out and that BO seems not to be much different to COD4.  I'll leave Blunt to reply if more detail is needed.
