Except for the points that others already mentioned, there are a two options we can use to gives us a different flow in the raiding:
1) extend raid lockouts
2) Do the kills in different order

Opposite to the situation we had when we started with RGW, we do not need to kill the same raid bosses every week to gear up. We now have Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman for that. The dedicated few can make 1250 Valor points from HC's without killing a raid boss, though I do not expect anyone to do that, it takes a lot of time. With guild groups we can go into ZG and ZA and replace the ilvl 346 (or less) items with ilvl 353 items. Pugs are too unpredictable at this moment for ZA and ZG.
Not needing the loot from bosses to gear up, can lead to not killing them, by using the raid lockout extension we have. That way we can 'skip' bosses the next week(s).

We could start with different bosses. So far, every week we started with Magmaw, etc. It might be the order from easy to difficult, but change in sequence might give more eagerness. And with eagerness comes concentration, something I think we were missing after the third try where we wiped at 500K on Omnotron.

If we combine these options, we could kill Halfus and then try Valiona & Theralion until we have them killed, 1 night a week, or we decide not to extend that raid lockout. The same applies to Magmaw/Omnotron and then Maloriak. That way we would create a combination of 'farming' and progressing.

Thanks for reading my braindump

Quote from: vladic;324130Dreaman could you publish what ever macro/addon you use that declares your interupts? as this would help alot with sorting arcanatron out

I'm not Dreaman, obviously, but I can give an answer:
As an add-on you can use RSA - Raeli's Spell Announcer. It announces certain spells, interrupts and more. It is configurable, you can make the announce go to specific channels. It is updated for 4.1 and works fine.

As simple macro could be:
#showtooltip
/say on %t
/cast

Example that will cast Pummel on your current target:
#showtooltip Pummel
/raid Pummel on %t
/cast Pummel

@Lego, I dont believe in extending the raid lockout, reasons:

- we do not disenchant epics yet.
- we do not "farm" bosses yet.

If these things to happen and we get in time trouble, then we could be able to try it.

Atm, its not the difficulty of the bosses thats killing us, we just need to execute the tactics.

@vladic, the first marco that Lego posted is the one I am using.

vladic

I think what lego was saying is that we know the tactics and we have downed them both befor, but starting at the same bosses every week and wiping often on the same bosses at the same time every week is getting everyones moral/excitement levels down, ill admit i find my concentration improves if im excited by the porspect of new bosses or even a diffrent rotation, Magmaw is becoming a stale encounter (and frankly unneeded as no one has needed loot from magmaw for weeks) and as Lego pointed above we dont have to farm the two bosses for loot anymore due to ZG/ZA providing gear that is slightly worse quality (its hardly noticable) so a bit of variety may help to revitalise people.

TeaLeaf

Imo the real question is 'why are you wiping so often on bosses you have killed before'.

Until you have an answer and a resolution to that question then you'll wipe a lot whichever boss you face.  Switching bosses will not solve an underlying problem.  I can appreciate the interest/excitement perspective, but you still need gearing (hence small number of DEs) and more  experience working as a team.  When the initial bosses become farm then the later & harder bosses become more interesting & more killable.

@Vlad, we still have people needing items from magmaw, I dont know where you get that info from but its wrong, on the other side im wondering which bosses you consider "farm" bosses, as Omnitron isnt 1 of them and Halfus isnt either, we 1 shotted Magmaw monday and doing that once doesnt mean its a farm boss(atleast not for me) we do it again tonight and its a farm boss.

My point is that if we cant handle these "easy" bosses caus of lack of focus (or interest?) then we cant even start the later onces, not forgetting that killing Omnitron opens the gate to the rest of BWD.

There is alot of negativity in this thread, so I would like to state one big positive from last night.
4 Bosses down! First V&T Kill for RGW! This means we can only make progess on Monday!

I would also like to point out other positives that i noticed:

The new tank (Treach) was awesome! He also got loot.

The DPS was awesome

And we all lived long enough to kill the bosses, which means the healing was awesome too!

Drea got loot.

Zuki got loot.

Whitey got loot.

(Cant remeber who else got loot!)

Everyone got valor and DKP. All these lead to more dps/healing/aggro! which will only make it easier for future raids

We wiped a couple of times, but we brushed ourselves off and started again
There are many positives from last night, and i thouroughly enjoyed it.

Great Performance from all, Thanks.

Aye, Dreaman is doing an awsome job sorting the RGW raid. Good to see you had an amazing new tank and 4 bosses down. Amazing, keep up the good work!

You might not have to since my resto drood could be used in RGW soon if needed ( running as many as HC's as i can atm) Since i'm an RGW member i wouldn't mind using my drood instead of Nims once in a while to fill up missing healer spots :)

Again grtz to everyone for a great raid, i had fun even though i missed loot on halfus :p
See you all on monday!

TeaLeaf

Great news for last the Wednesday raid folks, really good job!

@Nims - we're trying to make sure that the RGW raid develops as a true main raid, not an alt run.  People need to pick a main and stick to it so that everyone gears together and then succeeds together on the content.  Certainly in the very short-term there might be one-off requirements to ensure the raid proceeds, but in the long-term let's see people developing their main toons - anything less and the raid suffers.
