Bigpoint released a new variant of the Heavy Raider some while back called the fleet recon. It gave up hull and weapon slots for a huge Dradis range and increased jump range. Currently my FR can see 4660m and is great for spotting long range threats. It a 45,000 cubit extra.

However it seems there was a plan that the ship should only be repaired using cubits with no option for paying with titanium. This was never made clear (or actually mentioned at all) during the purchase process. FR pilots have also been able to use titanium to fix their ships, until now. In an undocumented 'bug fix' the FR can now only be repaired with cubits. The thread about this to which the chief forum moderator and lead designer have commented makes a long and depressing read. Clearly the developers didn't have a coherent response and some of the feedback was amazing confused and ambiguous. There's still not been any official final response. At one point it was a bug that was to be hotfixed, then it was itself a bug fix and wouldn't be changed.

If you have the patience you can read all about it here http://en.board.bigpoint.com/bsgo/showthread.php?t=403772

It is quite possible that the FR was always supposed to be a cubit repairable ship only, that it was a bug that it could be fixed with titanium and that someone forgot to add it to the patch notes when the bug was fixed and that finally there was some genuine confusion about the correct response to be given in the forums, but it's a real stretch. I suspect there's been some scull-duggery here and the fact that the cubit only repair wasn't mentioned when the purchase choice was made is very poor.

I do not buy cubits, I only earn them in game and so this will hit me quite hard if I have to share my limited cubit resource between equipment upgrades AND FR repairs, hence I'll be retiring the FR from service. I'm obviously not too happy. So it would be wise to take care before buying any new ships in the future.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

I'd never have bought the damn thing if they'd said that upfront.  I want a refund.

That's outrageous.

The irony is that it's just for hull repairs. The equipment that fits in the slots isn't ship specific and can obviously go in any strike we might own. So for example repairing my FR from 88% hull integrity to 100% cost 105 cubits. Hardly a lo of money. it's the fact that it wasn't mentioned at the time of purchase and the nonsense and possible outright lies from the developers about when it was implemented, whether it was bugged but no mention of it being fixed in the last patch or whether they planned to make it clear at the time of purchase.

Shoddy and makes them look disorganised at best and dishonest at worst.

tis bad

i used my FR last night to jump to where the guys were, because it has a better jump range  then i switched to a raider cause i cant afford to fix it.
