Am I alone in thinking Bernie Eccelstone had some funny mushrooms in his tea when he talked of Bahrain being 'totally fine' and that all will 'all be ok' because the race organisers have 'guaranteed' it?  Force India might disagree......

Going on FP1 & FP2 it's shaping up to be a good race as it looks like Red Bull have finally figured out how to energise their rear diffuser with the exhaust gases, so that puts Mercedes, Red Bull and McLaren up at the front fighting it out.

Ferrari still look lost to me and the car had horrible balance through some corners.  Let's hope they find a better set up tomorrow or it will be another long day at the office for both Alonso & Massa.

Renault are looking slow this weekend, not seen any good pace out of either car yet.

....and did you see the suspected 'super capacitor KERS' that might be in the Red Bull?

Tyre degradation is looking like it might play a big part this weekend, huge blisters on many rears today & yesterday and the fronts were regularly getting 'blocked' with the off-camber entries into some of the slower corners.   Could cause some fun pit-stop overtakes and shake the order up a bit.

Watching 3rd practice now, I think Mercedes will be strong here again!

and I agree ref Bernie, his response to Bahrain's unrest 'Nothing to do with us' is disturbing to say the least, a high profile sport with Millions watching on the princes track, thats not going to attracted attention?!

Although, two sides to every story an all, we have to remember that the press do like to dramatically exaggerate situations.... but even saying that, look what happened to the Force India team :(

I thought his comparing the troubles in Bahrain as no different to Conservative vs Labour was rather barking.

I thought Force India's team principal's comment that this is nothing abnormal was laughable. I mean a petrol bomb laid out of the road in front of a coach carrying their whole first line engineering team. Happened on the M40 last year on the way to Silver stone :p

Make Bernie angry and he'll make you pay.  Force India got ZERO television coverage/time through qualifying.  Conspiracy or coincidence, you decide.

Allegedly the TV blackout for Force India was ordered by Bernie & the FOM.

The internet is ablaze with stories about this enforced coverage blackout, wonder what the story will have grown to by tomorrow!

bernie can be a right cnut sometimes...yes i spelt it wrong, but it angers me how much grip that guy has, while he has brought some good to f1 he also has brought some bad....remember a few years ago when some f1 teams threatened to split from f1..i wish they would do it, it should not be allowed that 1 person has full  control of a sport a lot of us love

Ok, so two out of three aint bad.   Renault/Lotus were sand-bagging in FP1/FP2, that's my excuse!   Great result for Lotus though, awesome drives from both of them to get 2nd & 3rd.   And Vettel, well he just could not be caught.

Lewis lost out in the pitstops, again.   Heads will roll I'm sure and the in-hub nut might well appear at the next grand prix.

Enjoyable race though, good fun!

Impresive from lotus ...The bull is back to normal

Not sure how i feel about this track tho  ... The design of it comes across as a big block of tarmack with the track painted onto it. The fan base of Bahrain f1 seems very limited too lots of empty seats. If its not on the rota for next year ill not loose sleep

Likewise tbh, one of my least favourite tracks so I'd not miss it either.  But Bernie likes $$$, so we'll be back. :(

...and here's a nice article about how the changes Red Bull made to get it's rear end working again:
