Sound may not work for you, but your sound will sure as hell kill your team mates real quick.

When you turn A3D or EAX on, you are able to hear the enemy from approximately 30% further away. That is one huge motherload of an advantage.

1. Turn it on.
2. Get a buy script.

Whats a good setting for the Soundblaster EAX? When I turn mine on I get a midget alien sound, in a theatre, with a bit of distortion type gubbins and everything echos like on nuke.

Explain it to me in terms of the Creative Sound mixer thingy please

All I get when I turn them options on is lots of echo echo echo echo echo  8O.

Still say you can't beat headphones and lots of VOLUME !!!!!!!

You have to make sure you set the EAX environmental settings in the control panel.

You may need the live! stuff or the equivilent Audigy software pack to do it.
There are several settings such as Opera House and Stadium. Just choose something sensible like living room.

Also, CS with EAX and a 6.1 system rocks! You can hear everything, if someone is coming from behind, it plays in the rear speakers, and you get a seriously realistic sense of spacial movement.

This will open an old debate, but you get exactly the same sound stage (and I would actually say slightly better) with headphones.  I have an audigy in one system and an audigy 2 in the other and they both rock for headphones
