I've just 4 hours trying to nail this one. We are apparently in the same ship and same loadout .... but he can turn faster than me.
I understand that at 50% speed is my optimum turning speed, but still he turns faster.

My best strat so far is right at the start go max weapons and pound his ass.
He'll then turn away, great. I'll match speed and stay on his six, but suddenly he slows down faster than i can, turn faster than i can and take my shields and hull from 100% to almost zero in seconds.

I'm still a total noob at this, but his accuracy is near 100% - I can't match this, but as i turn slower I'm always in his sights.
My best effort so far is to get is hull under 80%, after 4 hours.

Any tips or hints?

I couldn't do it until I started reversing the thrust, even going backwards as he turns to get away.
When I found that I could take him fast.

This also applies to many other interdicting NPC's.

Make sure you have buttons bound to 100% and 50% power.

When you're attacking him transfer power to your weapons.

When he's hitting you transfer power to shields (SYS).

If you're shields are down, transfer power to engines and run away. Return when they're restored.

50% is important as its the optimal turning angle and you will turn much faster at that speed., that's how you keep him from always being able to fire on you every turn.

I've come to the conclusion that I just can't master keyboard and mouse for this.
As such I've ordered an el cheapo, but still with reasonable reviews, HOTAS: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Thrustmaster-T-Flight-Hotas-Joystick-PS3/dp/B001CXYMFS

Heh, it's a nice entry level HOTAS but it's gonna take a while to get used to! I'm much worse!
Still, it's a lot lot LOT more fun :)

Just takes time to get the hang of that guy. I maybe tried it 50+ times, like over a month. I beat him ironically on the Premium Beta release 1 then after the update it was reset and I couldn't do it. Then finally, I managed to just get him. There's a lot of sneaky moves you can achieve with the right speed, pitch and vertical thrusters by the way.

Imagine you're trying to keep your nose on target as he flies over your head, pitch up, vertical thrusters down and you move in an arc beneath the enemy and end up behind him quicker. It's all feel and imagination the movement in this game.

Finally beat him! He's obviously been toned down a little, but i got him on my 3rd go, although both our trousers were down and the fat lady was starting to stretch her vocals, but the dice rolled in my favour :)

Now I'll try a spot of trading and jumping around :)

Nice one mate, he was a tough one. There's a syndicate called the Crimson in game now as well!
