Spoiler if you haven't got to the bit that involves the ship's reactor yet.

[SPOILER=rant time]Wow ok so first of all the androids. Jesus. I thought I hated them already, and then they go and put on magic rubber suits and take away all of my useful weapons. That bit trying to gain access to apollo was not fun. And by not fun I mean seriously why did they put it in the game? This whole section of the game after the alien disappears is weak, and its mainly due to infuriating combat with the androids. I love the alien, love it. And I don't mind the occasional android thrown in every now and then to change things up, especially when combined with the alien (noise noise noise)... but I must have encountered maybe 20 androids in a row now, and I hate every single one of them. It is not fun. It is frustrating, and not at all in a good way.

I think a better approach would have been to just cut the length of this section down, and have very few hostiles in it (a much needed break?). If we just went straight from getting back onto the station down to apollo, then on to the reactor with little fuss, not only would it cut time but get rid of this frustrating android rubbish. I can't stress enough how much I do not enjoy this part of the game, when compared to the rest. It is slow paced, dull, frustrating, uninteresting... its just 1-2 hours of completely redundant filler that should have been cut.

Now, I have just entered the reactor, and I am actually happy to see the damn alien again. I can get back to playing the game I was enjoying. The reactor scenes are very cool, and I am sure I will somewhat forgive the game when I get further away from this weak section. I just wish they had cut it entirely, really is no need for it. Game of the year? Well, when it is good, its great. But when it is bad... its such a shame they put this sort of filler in, it really spoils what has otherwise been a fantastic experience so far.

I did find that bit slow, but there are a few clever ways to bypass some of the androids. H owever with most of them I just ran fast and dodged them. They're a lot more stupid than the alien and once out of sight I just ducked into a locker until they gave up looking for me. Not once did they try opening a locker door. Even when they watched me enter a dead end room with nothing in it except a locker! As I say it's easier if you just run through the left and right reactor rooms, but hardly immersive.

Are you playing on the hardest setting like I am?
I find that the working joes are pretty difficult to get past.
I hate them

Normal mode,  I was told that it's naturally a hard game and that hard mode was really tough. You can change the hardness setting on there fly and turn it down for really tough bits.

If you get within grabbing distance you're toast. It's just that they don't run which can work to your advantage.

Yeah blunt im doing it on hard too. Although for the bits I was ranting about smilo is right your only real option is to run. What frustrated me so much is I attempted stealth so many times only to end up getting caught, and at parts when you don't know where to go, getting caught can be a frustrating nightmare with 4 of them following you into every room.

I think the game narrative suggests there are areas where you travel far away from the Aliens  location (to other spires?). It's not very clear but I think the idea is that in these sections you're safe from the Alien and noise, gunfire etc won't bring it down on you. The much if not all of the reactor section, from memory, is in an Alien free zone. I do remember a part where you can manipulate the environment to bring down a lot of Working Joes.... I'll say no more so as not to spoil it for anyone, but it's very loud.

You do seem to come out of stealth mode and into run around like a lunatic mode. I sort of found this a bit jarring as up till then I had played it stealthy and bold. Head down, keep quiet, keep moving. But definately quiet! Then it's all bash your wrench on the wall, draw the Joe's in, duck round the table and sprint to another room, duck in a locker, wait, repeat. The good news is once your past that it gets very, very good!

yes, very very good indeed.

I am just happy to be past the android bits... like you said, jarring!

currently £15.99 on steam.
 Bring on the randomness!
Apparently I actually exist! Or maybe it was the drink?

Buy this game!

Also at a thousand million hours of game time - Elder Scrolls Skyrim £2.49! Two and a half pounds for a game that takes a minimum of 75 hours to complete properly and that on average is played for 350 hours! That's about 1 and a half pence per hour. Someone at Bethesda has obviously gone completely insane.

This is the single player RPG game which is a delight. I have heard that ESO is pretty dreadful.
