Guys

A couple of the Admins and i have had a chat about the missions currently on our server.  We all agreed that we have some outstanding missions that we would like to have the option of playing again but many have outdated versions of virtual ammo box script (revive and view distance) some of which have bugs affecting game play.

We would like to get these updated to the current version i am using.  If you are happy to do this please post which missions you are going to update.  If you don't have the time to do the updates but are happy for someone else to then please say and i will get it done.

The current set up is in the Dropbox but if you need a copy then let me know.

I'm quite happy to update mine with the virtual ammo boxes but would prefer to keep the load outs as they are I.e no restrictions.

I'll get them updated with the latest revive script etc within the next week or so

No restrictions on load outs other than thermal scopes as referred to in another thread.  Unless of course the mission maker want it that way.

File to use in the Dropbox is INS_revive_v0.3.1_mod20150712.Altis.zip

It's in the form of an example mission, fairly self-explanatory if you've used the scripts before.  Mission has two Ammo boxes, one with unrestricted load out and the other showing how to use a custom load out.  The init of the ammo box refers to a file in the ammoboxes folder, you can have as many as you require for your mission (or none at all).

As i said in another thread i have updated the View Distance to the latest version but have had to add it as a separate folder (taw_vd).  It did get rid of the error which popped up when opening the dialog for the first time in mission.  However, since the last update a few days ago it's back again but it does not affect it's use (i think its an error in the GUI).

It goes without saying but ensure you copy over all the files or you may get some errors (i tried using an old stringtable.xml file which just broke it).

Not sure if we are going with Grass None yet but if we are you will need to add this line to the mission init.sqf filetawvd_disablenone = true;
To re-spawn on the Team Leader name him "CO".  Re-spawn at base is as normal, name an item (like a flag) "base".

Please only update one mission and then test.  I would hate to find out i've missed something only after everyone has updated loads of missions.

The View Distance can not be accessed in the editor so you will need to save as a MP mission and test it there.

Sorry I'm not going to have the chance to do anything with maps for the foreseeable future so can't make any updates. If anyone want's to then please feel free to download and hack them about or just use the concept and make your own.

.

TBH last night with the inability to remove grass hurt my performance a little(sometimes the FPS dropped to around 20) , and that was with an unbusy mission, if this was in a mission with more addons then i would say that the performance with grass would force me to start lowering my settings, and it took me a lot of time to get them balanced in the first place. Having it off, ok it helps you see the enemy better, but as they dont bother with grass then its even.

I think that having the grass on or off should be up to the player, as they can see how it affects them, and im not updating to a gtx 900 whatever for grass, Paddy had to lower his settings last night as his 660gtx didnt like the grass.

This isnt a dig at anyone, as the admins and map makers are doing a great job, so no flaming please

Grass off would break last nights mission.  I like to use a few IEDs here and there but i have come to the conclusion the IED scripts are over powered, disguising anything and then blowing people up can become very annoying after the first couple of times.

In last nights mission, all IEDs were in fact tripwire mines, and while hard to spot i purposely didn't place any so the couldn't be seen.  This had exactly the effect i want with people watching out for them and for the most part seeing them.  With grass off i might as well put a flashing red arrow above them.

Just out of interest, what settings are you guys using?

Still interested to know.

With mine for example, i could take the games recommend setting or use AMDs Optimal setting which comes out the same.  This gives me a play experience i'm happy with most of the time but like you it can drop of at times.  I make only one change in the games graphics setting and get around a 50% boost in frame rate. The change doesn't really affect my enjoyment so its really a no brainer.
