If you want to part with 12GBP for 1 track then Scavier just made your Christmas :sideways:

Personally, I think they are taking the ****.

If any member wants our server updated to S3 then please say and I will do it.

Well chances of that pal, we both start a thread a day after it's released to the minute of each other, albeit with two very different views on it lol, I guess you could see it as **** take but I don't mind chipping in £12.00 if it helps keep the development going, I've certainly had way more than original £24's use out of it.

Here's to hoping it gives them a motivation boost to get things done!

I have to say I agree with both standpoints, £12.00 for one track is a bit OTT. However, from the hours spent racing LFS I think the £24.00 spent so far (excluding HiRes skins etc) is peanuts, so an extra £12.00 isn't much.

Having not played LFS seriously in years, and still being tempted to splash out, says a lot about how much enjoyment I've had from this Game. And if the income makes the Dev's more serious about future developments then it's maybe worth it for that as well.

For all the advancements is Graphics etc, LFS still Kicks butt in a lot of areas. The LFS scene has changed so much, with the Drift and Cruise elements coming to the fore, (which was starting to happen before I stopped regular racing) that I doubt I'd go back to running the game regularly. But you never can tell.

If they release an S3 then I'll give them a few quid I guess.  But for one track I will probably never play...nah, I don't think so.  Especially when I just got Brands laser scanned and a heap of really cool cars for 8 quid (Assetto).

Statements like this don't really inspire much confidence:

hmmm

How many years has S3 been in 'development'? To suggest that one new track is S3 is as Oldie said "taking the ****".
Certainly wont inspire me to get the wheel and pedals connected again

I think what they are saying is £12 and we'll continue developing the game and will release more content as it comes available. If nobody buys or pledges then they will stop as they have no money left. I read they took ages to even get around to announcing S3.

It all depends on how much love there is for the game. My
£24 since initially buying into it in 2003 has been well enough spend and I've not played that much. It's not a lot compared to other game if you really like the game.

I think you are right to a point Albert, They need an income to maintain doing it as a "full time" job although I'm sure it would still run on even if the money stopped for a while, it is just they would have to find another way of making a living.

I see it like are funding Scawens hobby, he has always stated he is not money motivated which I think is clear given what he could have charged, especially in lfs's hayday, he could have made a fortune had he wanted, probably still could if he sold out LFS's physics engine as it still one of the best out there even if the game itself is dated. I guess it's not a bad way to make a living though, working out of your spare room doing something he clearly has a passion for with no one to answer to apart from the forum users, can't knock him for it really.
