Not a surprise given his recent cancer history, but still a great loss to musical world.  His discography has classics that multiple generations of fans remember and love.  Great musician and artist.  RIP.

As a film fan, it's also a sad loss. 38 acting roles, but 452 soundtracks.

One of the most amazing performances ever in Tony Scott's cult vampire film from 1983 "The Hunger" where Bowie ages 200 years in two days, before the days of CGI where, with only make up and Bowie's body movement and posture, the ageing process looked scarily real.

And of course, all of my younger brother's generation remembers Bowie as the delightfully camp Jareth - The Goblin King - from the Jim Henson's "Labyrinth" from 1986.

He'd appeared six times on The Simpsons and had even done an episode of SpongeBob Square pants!

My favourite memory of him was seeing his video for "Let's Dance" which was the first thing I ever saw on MTV. That song was stuck in my head for decades.

I've grown up listening to Bowie, his music has been the soundtrack of my life.

Hunky Dory was one of the 1st albums I bought, and after that I was a devotee.

He will always be Starman.

Planet Earth is blue, and there's nothing I can do...

RIP Star Man.

Just told the wife about his passing and she cried. At high school we were all big fans and I have to say, with so much of his music on EMI when I worked there the respect for his work and him as a person was huge. Latest album is his usual weird, shocking and emotional mix, total genius. No cover versions here guvnor! (Except Lou Reed covers decades ago).
Cheers, Bert
