Hi guys!

It's been a bit quiet in here of late, so thought I'd just drop by to let you all know (if you didn't already, that it) that there is a concept sale going on right now over at the RSI website:

The Drake Buccaneer, is Drake's fighter/interceptor and is designed to fulfil the role that was originally intended for the Cutlass (before it got pulled every which way to satisfy the plethora of bitching because everyone wanted it to do what they wanted to do, and CIG...just capitulated).

It comes with 2 x Size one fixed weapons, 2 x size 1 missile mounts, 2 x size 3 gimabls with 2 x size 2 weapons, 1 x size 4 gimbal mount (equipped with a turret and 2 x size 2 weapons).
It sports 2 massive TR3 thrusters and no fewer than 16, count them! 16 manoeuvring thrusters!  It's not going to be a slouch, that's for sure!
It will set you back £85.80 and comes with the VFG (Asteroid) Hangar, LTI, ship model and poster.

If you currently own a Cutlass Black, you should have received a $10 discount voucher that can be used to purchase a Buccaneer (check your inbox!).

[h=2]The Drake Buccaneer[/h]
[/HR]    The problem: you’re conducting the  mineral survey that’s going to make or break your org, holding in your  Caterpillar just off an asteroid belt. Everybody’s counting on this:  your crew, your org mates, your families back home. But you aren’t  worried: a few more deep scans and you’re going to strike it rich.  Suddenly, the screens go red: bogeys all around! Looks like Vanduul want  a piece of the action: you.
The solution? The Buccaneer, the latest and greatest utility fighter  from Drake Interplanetary. The Buccaneer has been designed from the  ground up to fly and fight the way you live. No leather interiors or  hyperpillows here: the ‘Bucc is a scrapper designed to maneuver and  fight above its weight class. This rough-and-tumble frontier fighter can  be maintained in the worst of conditions in order to keep real, working  space crews alive.
Drake Interplanetary builds starships for the way you live, and we  are pleased to add the Buccaneer to our expanding lineup of craft  offered to legitimate businesses in human space. Intended to complement  the Cutlass/Caterpillar system, the Buccaneer was developed based on  careful examination of actual after-action reports and extensive pilot  feedback. What did all of our research tell us? You want a ship that can  maneuver and pack a punch without breaking the bank.
The Buccaneer is all of that… and more: it’s a ship with a bite  that’s every bit as mean as it’s silhouette implies! Featuring five gun  mounts, two missile pylons and countermeasures, this is one fighter that  won’t be pushed around! With a Buccaneer in your hangar, you can rest  easy knowing your concerns are being protected.

Oh!  And in case you were wondering, it is going to be in the production pipeline starting TODAY!  So we should see this one in-hangar and in-gme in the next couple of month! :)

Interesting, so put up against the F7C-M Hornet, how does this fare do you think?
Cheers, Bert

Not sure to be honest.  The two ships are intended for different roles and the Hornet is likely to be hardier than the Buccaneer, and the Buccaneer should be more agile...

There's an amusing thread on this subject over at the RSI forums from one of the biggest carebears of all time, and it seems that at the moment nobody can agree: https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/330969/sooo-the-stock-loadout-of-the-buccaneer-appears-quite-a-lot-better-as-the-hornet-f7c#latest

Blue also counts, probably all colours, it's just if you own a Cutlass already.   I got my $10 voucher for Blue iirc.

Good to know!  There were a few guys on Facebook complaining that they didn't get their discount code and others said that it was only applicable to the black, so I assumed that was the case.

So the "freebie" for those who pledge for a Drake Buccaneer is a size 4 (I.e. "Beast") Behring C-788 Ballistic Canon.

Here's the official Press Release:

if you haven't got a Buccaneer yet and want one, you have to be quick as the sale ends Monday 6th.

I'm slightly confused how an interdictor that will have jump capabilities will have no sleeping quarters. It will be able to jump as far as the Herald but you have to stay online and get to a safe port.

I melted a 315p because it was not LTI and got one anyway.

I'm slightly confused too: why would you have a bed on an interdictor?

Surely, if you're running in a Buccaneer, more lilely than not, you'll be part of a pack, which means that you'll be out on a sortie with the plan to end up back at 'home' by the end of your run?  No bed needed.  But yes, you will have to find a safe port (although CIG have said that they will have a similar hibernation feature for single-seat ships).

PS: Good man!  We need to fleet up at some point and try these babies out (when they're flight-ready!) :)

Just to make my position clear on SC ...

As soon as we can *reliably and consistently* meet-up in space and fly together then I'm dropping everything else and firing up the HOTAS.
