New Mode - New Map: Initial Thoughts

Hi Folks,

With the most recent update of Toxikk, a new map and a new game mode were released.

Twin Peaks is an open terrain map with (you guessed it) two mountains separated by a low ravine. This is the 2nd map that has been released and it brings with it shiny new toys.

In itself the map is quite big and the best way around is to use VEHICLES:

Fortunately, the developers have given our own personal transport. This is accessed by pressing G. However, it does come at a cost.

STREAMER:

The STREAMER is a hoverbike that can be spawned by the player (default key is [G]). Spawning the bike will cost you 100% of your power armor's energy (the same energy you use to activate the stealth effect). It is very fast, but entirely unarmed. - The Streamer is very fragile. It is quite fast so watch yourself when you're in it. You don't die (unless you cliff-jump) when you crash it. However there is a slight delay getting back up and fighting again. Remember that it takes your armour!!

RHINOCEROS:

The RHINOCEROS (Rhino) is a small, four-wheel powered, two-passenger vehicle (driver and gunner) that is capable of turbo boosting, self destruction and is extremely well armored. It is armed with a plasma projectiles (similar to those of the Stingray rifle) minus the focused beam, but with unlimited ammo. Its primary weapon may overheat under heavy use though.- personally I like this vehicle. While a little hard to control it does force cooperation as you need a gunner to survive. Also, it has a turbo button that is brilliant for jumping across bridges etc.

BANSHEE:

The BANSHEE is a combat hover pod. Its primary fire is the exact same gun of the RHINOCEROS, while its alternate fire is a quick descend, allowing its pilot to crush infantry units underneath it. - Not sure about this one yet. It's very much like the Halo in it's controls and slightly difficult to aim. I am a n00b however..

PHANTOM:

The PHANTOM is a medium sized assault bomber, equipped with a minigun as its primary fire and unguided missiles as secondary fire. It's excellently suited to give air support to infantry units. - Does what it says on the tin. Fly high (space) and rain down on the enemy. Personally I like the minigun the best.

NEW GAME MODE - CELL CAPTURE:

This is your classic Capture The Flag game mode. This brings into the game the necessity of teamwork. I played a few hours tonight and got slaughtered as the team I was with ran off in different directions the entire round. I saw players jump in the Rhino and head off by themselves for example. Work together and win!
