Just finished this book, written by Adrian Tchaikovsky*.

Simply stunning, I can't praise it enough. A journey through space and time that has little to do with actual space and a lot to do with what it is to be human. It covers the end of life as we know it and the journey that follows. It's nothing like any sci-fi book I've ever read before, and indeed it feels a disservice to lump it in that genre alone; it is so much more. Overall it stands out as a wonderfully fresh and unique piece of work, a joy to read. I'm smitten, can you tell?

Anyway, I don't want to say too much more as the plot is absolutely sublime, and to spoil any of it's wonderful intricacies would be a real shame. If you're looking for something different to grab you and any of what I've said piques your interest, pick it up. If what I've said doesn't get you excited, then my cautious description in effort to protect its story has not done it justice, and you should pick it up anyway :D

Arthur C Clarke award goes to Adrian Tchaikovsky's novel of 'universal scale'

*I finished the 10 book epic 'Shadows of the Apt' series, written by this same author, earlier this year. That series is sci-fi/fantasy through and through, but much like Children of Time it brings something new to the table. I wouldn't know where to being writing about that series, but it's well worth looking in to if you enjoy sci-fi/fantasy and have the stamina for such a long series.
