So this week we have the LAN / WAN so of course last night my graphics card went pop.  Screen went dark with some texture and lines visible, nothing responded so did a hard reboot and it didn't, PC powered up but did not post.  Luckily i have a spare card of the same model so just put that in and all is well again but it got me thinking.  Having checked when i purchased these cards it's well over 5 years ago so the PC gods could well be telling me time for an upgrade.  Have not kept my hand in on what's good and what's not so any advice will be appreciated.  Had a quick look last night and saw Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 Super Windforce OC 8GB, any good?

As a brand I love Gigabyte never had a issue with them and I like the windforce tech.  I am skirting around and looking at its 2070 super myself, but then I wake up and realise it was a dream :)

Ideally you'd want the 2080 version. If you can't stretch to it buy a 2070 series and as Toby says get the super, Ti or overclocked versions of the one you are looking for. The 2060 won't last as long.

Brand wise its really up to you it can be as simple as a brand you like or you might want one that has a longer warranty. I went with EVGA as at the time they had one of the longest available warranties for my 1070FTW.

I like to check these guys out for general league tables of cards: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/

I think the 2070s and 2080s have the quality to last a few years. the AMD5700s are running way too hot still as far as videos I've seen are concerned although the 5700X gets to 2070S levels for far cheaper.

Personally, I'd look for a second hand 1080Ti if obtainable for like £400 or less, a good deal.

GPU prices have taken a hike just recently. When I was looking for an upgrade I did consider a second hand 1080TI but £400 ( going rate at the time) for a card with no warranty seemed risky.

In the end I got a Gigabyte 2070S Gaming OC 3X  for £500 (£600 now!!) which has 4 years warranty. Very easy to overclock in afterburner and then gives nearly 2080 performance. Also extremely quiet.

As Lion has said, prices have jumped recently following the 'rona.

The 2060S, 2070S, 2080S.. they are all good cards. Go with whatever works for your budget. If you can, I'd hold off and see what things are like in 6 months, but sometimes we just have to commit and buy at unfortunate times eh :/

My thoughts exactly regarding second hand.  And as for price hikes, the card i linked to below went up £30 at lunchtime !!

I really can't justify spending too much and £400 is already pushing it for me but looking at the comments below i've found another card, possibly ...

GeForce RTX 2070 WindForce X2 rev1.0 8192MB
This is an older card than the first one i looked at around 20 months ( the 2060S is about 9 months old ).  It's not a Super or Ti etc as Ghosty suggested, is that an issue ?

Here's the comparison of the two cards, all pretty even really.  Thoughts ?

Very little in it, but yes I would get a 2070 over a 2060 Super. Not an issue that it is a 'non-super'.
