TeaLeaf/ FatBob, are you sure they have enough capacity on their power supply for that room to accomodate 30+ PCs, several servers, a couple of laptops and smite's industrial electric vibrator?

I wouldn't want to see a power failure ruin the weekend and the hotel trying to charge us for the repairs!

A good point. The average ring main will give around 8KW (32Amps). We will easliy exceed this with the PC's, monitors, servers etc. if everyone attends.

i brought this up at the last lan, i read an artical on power phases etc with small lans and asked a few questions, was ashured everythink was fine and it was, it should b really as we r holding it in an old nightclub!! and i think they drain quite a bit of power!

Cool, nice one sheepy, just thought I'd ask, I often find that contractors installing computer equipment for me in my job forget to check the power in comms rooms and make sure I bring a spare UPS for the one that will blow during the installation.

Nigtclubs are pretty power intensive so we should be fine.

i'm afraid to say that given a dinnerplate containing amps,ac/dc power,elastictrickery,watts,3 phase,switches etc even a gourmet of my ability wouldn't know where to start, i wouldn't even know what knife and fork to use! . last time we went with the old suck it and see method of electrical safety ie: plug it all in and see what melts !. nearly all of the sockets are centered around the decks/djbooth so we will be running extension cables for those further away but on the whole most people will be around the booth the person from the hotel looked blankly at me when i asked the question "exactly how may gigawatts can we drain safely b4 the hotel implodes and march is blacked out". all i can do is agree with the fact that nightclubs are pretty power intensive and we should be ok !.
also i would say we are covered because i asked the question !!

It was squirrels it is a bit small for him now that he is on the industrial 14 incher.

Well...actually i thought i'd wear both, the red one during the day(thats my power dress) and the purple for the evening because thats more seductive...but depends which one your wearing unless your buying a complete new outfit
