Meat Hook PCS and Crosswired announce......

As you know, interest in our PCS community continues to grow and this has meant that the number of players on the Meat Hook recently has been regularly exceeding the maximum number of spawn points available on the maps.   This has meant that some of our PCS regulars have been unable to get in to the server and join the fun.  This has been recognised as a problem by the Admins who have been considering various solutions for some time now.  There has also been an active discusssion on the forums.

The salient points can be summarised briefly as follows:

(a) Most maps only have 20 spawn points.  
(B) Meat Hook PCS regularly gets more than 20 players on the server.
© The server, Blackadder, is capable of hosting 40+ players (Pentium IV 2.0GHz with 1.0GB DDR RAM).
(d) Blackadder currently also hosts our match server, but is not used for anything other than matches (usually 3-4 per week).
(e) Larger teams (e.g. 10 v 10) can easily hinder the ability to play PCS.
(f) There are surprisingly few maps with more than 20 spawn points.
(g) -=[dMw]=- alone have 25 members so could fill the server themselves.

The Admins have now considered all of the options available and decided to make two changes:

1.  Reduce the number of player slots available on our current server, homer.deadmen.co.uk:27015, to 16.  
2.  Make a second 16 player server available, baldric.deadmen.co.uk:27016.

We will be monitoring how these changes impact upon the quality of our PCS community and gaming experience, but hope that they will:

(a) improve PCS gameplay by limiting the team sizes to better suit available map space.
(B) provide a solution to the maximum spawn point problem.
© allow Meat Hook PCS to host up to 32 players each night.
(d) make better use of our spinky server, Blackadder.
(e) allow us to choose and play on an unrestricted map list.

Therefore -=[dMw]=- and our kind hosts Crosswired are delighted to announce that with effect from this Friday evening we will be opening our previously unheralded match server, Baldric, to registered PCS community members.  So, if you try to join Homer and find it is full, then pop over to Baldric!  The password for Baldric will be the same as the current password for Homer.

The MOTD has also been changed to reflect that fact that we now have 2 PCS severs:

What exactly are the commitments for the new server (27016). I know you book wars for  Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Do you lock the server for Clan Practice. I only asks as right now  (20.24 Sunday) there appear to be a whole load of  DMW members on the server but no none members. I assume it's a practice (or a pre match warm up) but it would be good to know when to stear clear of the server.
