I know I don't play very often so remind me, this is a game right?  <_<

Whitey

I play for fun.  I like competition; it's healthy, as long as it's not taken too seriously.  Like Doorman say's, It's a game.

I haven't played enough to have decided what class I prefer, I'll play as whatever is required in the squad.  How will I stand when it comes to choosing players for a match?

QuoteThe idea of this is that we have 'core' squads for competitive games (to help avoid the complete gubbings we have had of late during 'friendly matches').

I think the admins should address this as it is a change in direction for dMw if it is implemented. I also thought that it was only Charlie company who could represent dMw in matches. I have been on the receiving end of a few gubbings but still had great fun in the process :D . Sorry but winning isn't the most important thing.

The dMw 'gods & minions' would never let - I suspect - the fun go out of the normal regular games by alienating anyone.

And the same should apply to friendly matches

Even when we practise with these roster squads in the normal everyday dMw server (as I hope we will) there is always room for 'irregulars' and visitors!

I know life moves on and the community is changing, but let's not forget what made it great to start with!  :dmw:

based on the last lan that'd be...

tactics come after that ;) good tactics if we're lucky! we tried detailed tactics with my old clan, but tbh it's best to yell at everyone in the game

Are we talking predefined squads for regular evening bashes or strategies etc. for matches?

For the evening bashes I will play whatever kit suits any strategy. But if not I will just run around and kill people :)

For the matches of course it would be a good idea to have tried to plan a fight in advance...

I may be opening myself up to some serious flaming here but....

here goes

it is only a game and if you watch some of the organised BF2 league games on TSN people bunny hop, dolphin dive and use every trick in the book (bar flat out cheating) to win a game. The aim is to win and win at all costs. Maybe KoD could'nt believe their luck when they came up against a team not willing to exploit the game for any advantage in helping them win.

I really enjoy AAS but maybe sometimes you could switch it off so we can play vanilla BF2 (Karkand). maybe 3 squads of 3 plus commander with each squad given a capture/defend flag/area to control whatever it takes.

commence flaming....

the occasional evening of "vanilla" BF2 would be nice :)
I'd imagine the occasional evening of infantry only BF2 would be nice too? We could either password the server and just "agree" not to use any vehicles other than the jeeps, or hunt down a "mod" that keeps the vehicles from spawning (latter being better obviously?)

I would love to do such a game. That is what I play on other servers, and I do that a lot.

What outofsync said...

And, as said in the other thread I'm happy to play whatever role is needed in a team, and not afraid to do as the SL says.

Besides that, I'm still all for infantry fights. Nothing beats infantry! *ahem*

Remember, you're on Dead Men Talking and 'flaming' doesn't happen.

Except when Benny has a turn of course...

Happy to oblige.

Yup, its only a game.

But, No, the aim of the game is to have fun and enjoy it. Winning is definately a bonus, but not essential.

Our argument is that we didn't enjoy the game or the spirit of the game with the tactics employed. Exploiting the unreal elements of the game spoils it.

Remember it was a "Friendly match".

Hear hear. Well said..

And can I just add - again - that the whole roster idea ISN'T to spoil anyones fun or make everything too ridged or formal (or to exclude anyone).

It is actually to help people get the most out of the game, and to help squads work as squads - not as a collection of lone wolves.

BUT MOST OF ALL - the whole roster/tactics thing is a TAKE IT LEAVE IT thing.

Nobody is trying to make new rules or anything - just think of it as your friendly local BF2 dating agency. Where you can come in and find others of like minds to spend some time with!

LOL

Again, Whitey - with the greatest of respect (especially as a new comer, as I am) - you are taking what I am saying out of context.

First of all, this is nothing to do with making new imposed rules.

This is very much a take it or leave it thing for whoever is commander/squad leader during games...For the most part the whole roster thing isn't even relevant to the everyday games that we play night after night.

This is a set of ideas around which whoever is in charge during a game can base their game tactics on - if they want.

At the end of teh day I am in no position whatsoever to impose any 'new direction' on anyone - for the most part everyone here has learned to simply ignore me when I prattle on...

I simply find it fun to explore tactical issue - and I know some others do.

WE HAVE ALREADY USED THESE IN THE GAMES WE HAVE BEEN PLAYING to a certain degree.

There are already certain guys that like to play together because the like the style of that squad (over the past couple of weeks the 'BIG' guys for example have teamed up with several guys who like to play in a certain way).

But we are - as I think everyone in dMw is - willing to play with anyone, in any fashion that makes it fun for the majority.

Sadly you can't please anyone.

Please don't take this as a flame of your view. It isn't - I fully respect where you are coming from on this. But likewise there is an alternative view too.

Otherwise why play squad tactical games at all - their very name suggests that we play in squads and play tactically!

No disrespect intended mate.
