Oldie's comments about organising LAN parties on a commercial basis got me thinking a wee bit.  My 2 irrational thoughts were:

1.  We could organise a LAN on a commercial basis.  Boy, that's a big one.  We have enough skills within the clan to do this if we see that there is a benefit.

2.  I think we have enough people coming to the next LAN to enable us to try to get some sponsorship from some of the hardware/software/gaming companies/retailers.  Does anyone have any ideas as to whom we should approach for prize donations etc?  Or do we have any industry contacts who would be amenable?

Feedback?  Or should I get right back into my box?   :?

building up the PCS community would help us acheive interest from the hardware manufacturers etc.... lets face it, exposure is everything.... we times our traffic to the dmw site and forums by 10 and we'll get sponsorship full time.... plus sponsorship for organised LANSs.

I like the idea of getting some free hardware as prizes for the LAN or something, so if it is alright with everyone else I think I'll try to approach some hardware people first and see what sort of response comes back (if any).

Any thoughts on who should be contacted?  And would you want to involve any of the gaming magazine or other similar sites to offer them a story?
