I was only in one and a half games, but have to say I had a great time.

Mass destruction was terrific - and the battle at the Convoy in Ghost Town was great!

Dunno about everyone else but I kept getting lost. Just not familiar with the AAS routes on SF yet (may have to print out the routes today to study).

That Russain attack helo (Hind) is a bit of a bitch - both to fly and to knock down.

And I forgot how to use the ZIP wire! LOL

:)

...Nice to see quite a few on ~ as I suggested on another thread maybe Tuesdays would be a good night to do the SF thing? (Though again - and I won't be popular for saying this - I don't see the problem, why don't people just buy it!)

LOL - that'll go down like a lead balloon!

;)

Play.com - £14.99 Delivered!

Right come on whats so good about the add on pack then that requires me to spend a further £14.

I want lasers.... Scatter bombs...... Jumpacks.... and packed lunch

Dewey

well theres:

maps - lots of cool new urban maps (daylight ones!), night time maps

gadgets - zip lines, grappling hooks, flashbangs, gas

guns - lots of new ones

vehicles - including 2 new helos, about 3 new apc/bmps, quad bike, new jeeps, technicals, cars (good for racing), jetski etc

new sides - insurgents, SAS, SEALs etc with cool new uniforms!!

new accents for each type of side *gasp*

smite

See those things i would expect in a patch....come on there must be more ... I WANT MORE.

Naked barmaids in the local for when the day is finished and all killing is done.

Edible tanks.

Mother of all Redeemer over the arm Rocket launcher that causes death to half the map..... i want it ALL .....

Pee shooter with grow your own pea area.

RizZy

I gotta say, I'm with Smite on the SF front, all things previously mentioned I would expect to see as part of a patch & not some crappy EA scam to get another £15 out of me, offical addons to me should make some considerable differances to the game, not add a few new maps & weapons.

I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

Really? You would expect all that from a patch? I think your asking too much there.

Every game I've ever played worth playing had expansions with similar feature lists to SF and no-one moaned about them, in fact the communities embraced them.

ie Generals, Operation Flashpoint, IL2, Joint Ops, Rome total war... so why should BF2 be any different?

heck some publishers even release them as full priced stand alone games ie GT legends.

I really think theres a lot of people moaning about SF, and I just don't see the problem. I've never played CS but as I understand it, it has had subsequent releases where people have had to pay again hasn't it? Also lets not forget that CS has a huge number of mods built for it as its been out for over 5 years - BF2 in comparison has been out less than a year - there are lots of free mods being built for BF2 but it takes time.

EA do provide patches to make the game more balanced and fair, but why should they do lots of extra work and expect no cash for it? Would you expect to be paid nothing for work you do?

I find it odd that a community which likes FPS like CS/BF2 bemoans having to pay £15 for more goodies and fun. However if you do fine, but lets stop moaning about it eh, just don't buy it and keep playing BF2.

I also happen to think that the original £25 I payed for BF2 has been one of the best £25 I've ever spent, I've played for about 400-500 hours at BF2 and I'm still not bored of it, and how much does that work at per pound?

At least EA don't charge people for playing their online games like other companies do.

*I despair*

Too right it is...Its like balancing a broom stick on your finger, you can balance it for a while but once it leans over too much, theres nothing in the world thats going to get it back...

As for shooting it down I managed it easily last night.... Just fire off a few rounds in its general direction..... the pilot banks it over and flys into a tree/building easy.    I think I scared sulky into that last night    :D

Boris

played it for first time today - awesome!!!!! its just BF2 but with better bits - whether it should have been a patch or not doesnt matter - its £15 well spent

on the other hand i played on a public server, and i have to say - i cant play without AAS anymore!!!!

Sorry I missed it. I could see you all playing, and even joined briefly, but i'm having issues with my ping at the moment. It seems to have settled down now (almost midnight) for the first time i've noticed since getting back after New Years, and it was doing it just before I went away too. I suspect someone is on my network segment raping the upstream sideways during waking hours, as it's been looking iffy even during the middle of the day. Anyone else on Force9/Plusnet?

Mal: Define interesting...
Wash: Oh god, oh god, we\'re all going to die?

Should anyone have the same trouble I had with trying to join an SF server try this: Presumably you have patched BF2 up to 1.12. Install Special Forces and then RE-INSTALL patch 1.12. It worked for me. Found it out on a forum somewhere.

You're not alone.  I'm also on Plusnet and all their gaming pings are stuffed at the moment.

The problem is, you can ping/traceroute the server just fine from Windows (typically 24ms for me).  When you're in-game however, your ping can be upwards of 150ms.

Plusnet are aware of it, but are dragging their heels about getting a fix in place <_<.  I have an open ticket on the issue, and there's a thread on their discussion forums about it here.  In my view they're starting to go downhill as an ISP, I think they expanded their customer base too quickly.

Edit: They appear to have resolved the issue.  Quoting bbrown from their forums.
QuoteIt's not that the ports weren't being shaped, they weren't being given the right priority over the network. The maintenance work in the early hours of this morning should have resolved this and gaming should be fine now, however if it is not please let us know so we can look into this asap.
