Is it just me, or is the map rotation looking a bit stale lately? Not that Friday nights aren't still the best game in town, but I keep getting these nostalgic flash-backs of names such as rio, archive, haste and roadhouse. Seeing as we only play organised once a week, and that such play is generally hinted on the forums, would it be too much to ask for a 'map of the week'? Something to stir things up and force us to invent and employ new and exciting tactics?

I would be happy to volunteer for digging up maps if anyone thinks this is a good idea. Posting a link on the forums on, say, Wednesday would give everyone a chance to download the map and play with it, or we could have a mystery-map released on Fridays five minutes before that is unknown to everyone.

Or is everyone happy with rushing left on dust?

Btw, 20 players on dust?

Hey, dont knock it ......actually gettin' 20 players on mh is an accomplishment ... :D

yeh good idea Cain ...even though I'm not always around on Fridays I would agree with some "different" maps (as long as we can still stick to TCS)  ;)
I really was not born to work ALL my life !!!!!

cs_rio!!!

Hows about map of the month, rather than week. It would allow a bit more play on each map, and make sure that everyone gets them! If rio is your fave map and you miss the night its on you would be a touch annoyed!

As ex Jolt 12 regulars, Me n Tox would have to ask for Militia :P  (it's not my favourite though...so that's just Tox)

But I'm gonna beg for "De_Train" :dribble:

Despite the less than overwhelming enthusiasm, I suggest that we add cs_rio to the mix for tomorrow. Seeing as it's already on the server it requires minimum effort. All we have to do is download it, cs-maps.org towards the bottom of the page, extract to our /Steam/../czero directory and ask the nice admin types to load it for us.

Pretty please with sugar on top?

The only problem I can see with map of the week (all for it myself) is that whenever a non-standard map comes up in the cycle, we lose players.

Hopefully, if it's advertised well in advance then people will have the map installed, ready for the Friday night session.

Whitey makes a good point here. I am reluctant to put a map into the cycle at short notice for exactly the reason he states. What I suggest is that we run a poll, choose a map for NEXT month and kick it off for February. I'll create a poll this evening at home and we'll get it advertised so that people have a chance to get the map and we will have less chance of losing players on a map change (nothing kills a good game faster)

Fair enough? :)

No

Bye bye rio for another month :byesad:

[curmudgeon] Like we need rio, with its cliched "long snipey route and twisty CQB route" business, like 80% of custom maps. [/curmudgeon]

killcrazy

i dont know about anyone else but i loved playing with you lot on de_cpl_strike, de_cpl_fire and de_cpl_mill .......

Toxteth

Never heard of those maps...? But yes that is a great idea! I'm not often around on friday nights but i'm sure I will make it every now and again.

Oh yes and cs_militia, excellent map and can be a real challenge for both teams (so long as the terrorrists play by the rules and don't rush EVERY round).

I had great fun last night on BoD btw. Had to download almost every map but was great fun getting to play on all of them with a full server. I would suggest the maps but i have no idea what they were called, maybe Browne, IceHawk, Thusla and any of the others who played will remember...?
