QuoteThey're Ex-Demo and come in a "tatty box" - but if your willing to take a bit of a chance that price is killer

My 2005FPW arrived this morning (ordered Wednesday night last week). It was really well packaged and there don't appear to be any scratches on the screen or stand. There's a grey dead pixel but it's not noticeable unless you know where it is. Also, the metal bits of one of the side USB ports is a bit bent. Overall I'm really happy with it!

BTW, if anyone's looking for some nice widescreen wallpapers, //www.socksoff.co.uk has some good links.

Great for gaming/DVD but not sure I prefer it for browsing/general use over my 2001FP (the 20 inch 4:3 screen) ... we'll see

How are you finding the monitor? Have you tried gaming on it and what graphics card are you using?

that's what I thought! Am scarily close to spending £250 to get some widescreen goodness now... plus people say that the salepeople said they would exchange in cases of excessive backlight bleed (most common complaint of the 2005fpw I believe)

Also be aware the resolutions aren't all native  for gaming.

the dell 2005fpw allows you to display @ 1:1 picture ratio, so if your game will allow you a 1600x900 resolution you can use 1600x900 (16:9) of your 1680x1050 (16:10) pixels and the rest sit there ... quality. Likewise 1280x1024, etc etc... :D

Release your card.
In A1 condition, works perfectly, Whitey's impressed (he aint easy to please)!

However if you want to view 1600 x 1200 res you should get the FP2001

Whitey

Yep, well impressed.  No tatty packaging and not a mark on the monitor that I could find.  Looked like new, nice sharp image, good contrast and viewing angles.  I'd need a bit more time with it to check colour reproduction but looked good at first glance.

I'm tempted but don't want to give up my 21" CRT as it's taken me ages to get the colour setup properly for photographic work.

would love to hear from someone picky whether there's any "ghosting". Staring at the samsung TFT (I think 713 or 913 or something?) next to me at the last LAN did nothing good for my eyes. Watching a plane flying around in BF2 made me feel a little ill after a minute or two! I like the idea of the 1:1 ratio thing because my current pc setup will do 1280x960 in BF2 happily, but much more and I'd expect some pain!

over the next few days I'll know for sure whether I like it or not.
If not then it goes on eBay.
