SoG is a mature Guild with over 200 accounts and in excess of 400 playing characters.  We are able to offer both end-game instance raiding through both RG1 and RG2, PVP via regular Guild PVP groups and a mature, friendly and social gaming environment.  We do not need or want to recruit loot whores, immature kids or those unable to contribute successfully towards a team goal.  If you're unable to be nice to people and work as part of a team then please do not apply.  We count you the person as more important than your gear - that's why we insist on every application having a current full member as a sponsor.  If you have no sponsor then we have nobody who can vouch for your good character and behaviour and your application will therefore be automatically declined.

SoG offer three categories of membership, each with different responsibilities and rewards. The three membership categories are:
  • Guardian

  • Defender

  • Soldier

Guardian Membership:
We will announce here if we are recruiting for this category of membership and will only consider applications where we are recruiting for a class need. This category of membership carries with it a commitment to raid on a regular basis (5 out of every 6 raids). Guardian members have priority for Raid Group 1 places.

Defender Membership:
We will announce here if we are recruiting for this category of membership and will only consider applications where we are recruiting for a class need. Defender membership carries with it a commitment to raid on a regular basis (4 out of every 6 raids).  Defender members have priority for Raid Group 2 places.

Soldier Membership
Applications from dMw members or real-life friends for this category of membership are always considered. This category of membership has no priority to join official Guild raids and any random applications from 'unknowns' will be automatically declined.

MEMBERSHIP DETAILS:
What each membership option provides and what the Guild expects in return is set out below:

Guardian (RG1)
Benefits
You will get first call on places in official RG1 raids (currently Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings; invites at 19.15 server time).
You will get priority in a raid over other categories of membership unless a specific class need requires the officers to temporarily defer your inclusion in the raid.
The Guild will pay for any talent respec requested by the Officers.
The Guild will appoint a maximum of 7 per class to this category of membership.
RG1 has Onyxia, Molten Core and Blackwing Lair on farming status.
RG1 is currently tackling C'Thun (Phase 2) and also working on Naxxramas progress.

Your commitment
If you are online on an official raid night then you commit to participate fully in the raid.
You commit to raid with the Guild on at least 5 of the 6 raid nights every 2 weeks. Whilst holidays and personal circumstances may make this impossible from time to time, the Guild reserves the right to change your category of membership if you persistently fail to meet the attendance requirement.
You may be asked to respec your talent tree for the benefit of the raid if it is felt necessary by the Officers.
Due to the high level of the instances raided by RG1 it is expected that any applicant to RG1 have at least their full Tier 1 set (or equivalent), Tier 2 headpiece and Tier 1 equivalent weapons.  Preferrably applicants should have full Tier 2 armor and weapons or better.
RG1 members are expected to 'pot up' for all progression raids.

Guardian members must:
Be Level 60
Be attuned to BWL, MC, OL and Naxxramas
Be able to raid until 23:30 server time on nominated raid nights
Have a minimum unbuffed FR of 80 (aiming for in excess of 100)
Have a minimum unbuffed NR of 120 (aiming for in excess of 180,  melee should aim for closer to 250+)
Supply a link to your Allakhazam full profile (or similar) to help officers assess raid needs and tactics.
Use CTraid and Teamspeak. We do not require you to have and use a microphone (although you'll be alone if you don't), but you MUST be able to answer verbal instruction either by voice or by typing in raid channel.  We strongly recommend you have a microphone to enable full and active participation in the raid and the SOG social scene.

Defender (RG2)
Benefits
You will get first call on places in official RG2 raids (currently Tuesday and Thursday evenings; invites at 19.15 server time).
You will get priority in RG2 unless a specific class need requires the officers to temporarily defer your inclusion in the raid.
The Guild will pay for any talent respec requested by the Officers.
The Guild will appoint a maximum of 7 per class to this category of membership.
RG2 has both Onyxia's Lair and Molten Core on farming status and is now progressing rapidly through BWL.

Your commitment
If you are online on an official raid night then you commit to participate fully in the raid.
You commit to raid with the Guild on at least 4 of the 6 raid nights every 3 weeks.  Whilst holidays and personal circumstances may make this impossible from time to time, the Guild reserves the right to change your category of membership if you persistently fail to meet the attendance requirement.
You may be asked to respec your talent tree for the benefit of the raid if it is felt necessary by the Officers.

Defender members must:
Be Level 60
Be attuned to BWL, MC and OL
Be able to raid until 23:30 server time on nominated raid nights
Have a minimum unbuffed FR of 80 (aiming for in excess of 100)
Supply a link to your Allakhazam full profile (or similar) to help officers assess raid needs and tactics.

Soldier
Benefits
You can be a full member of SoG, be in the same 'club' as your friends and enjoy the SoG atmosphere.

Your commitment
None, you can be any level (L60 is not a requirement) and you can do as you please when you are online.
You have no commitment to raid and in this category of membership members can only raid 40 person instances if the raid fails to fill up with defenders or if there is a specific class need.  Soldiers can however particiapte fully in all other Guild parties and raids to any 20 person instance.  Soldiers are also eligible to join the weekly Molten Core & Onyxia's Lair whole Guild raid.  We also recommend you are able to use Teamspeak and have a working microphone to enable full and active participation in the SOG social scene whilst online.

ALL MEMBERS
All members & alts can join SoG raids on AQ20 and Zul'Gurub (both 20 person raids instances).  We have also introduced a weekly Guild raid to Molten Core & Onyxia's Lair that all members (including Guardians, Defenders, Soldiers and Alts) are eligible to join.  Likewise the Guild runs numerous other raids to all other instances on an unofficial, guild pick up group basis and any member or member's alt may join.

We encourage ALL members to join our regular raids on Azuregos, Ysondre, Taerar, Lethon, Emiriss and other outdoor bosses such as Lord Kazzak as and when they spawn.

Irrespective of the Category of Membership for which you are Applying:
If accepted an applicant will be given Initiate status. Whilst an Initiate your performance, behaviour and attendance will be monitored and reviewed by the Guild. After an initial period and a review by the Officers, it will then be decided whether or not full Member status will be granted. This review usually happens after about a month but can be earlier or later at the Officers' discretion.

If you applied for Guardian or Defender membership then please be aware that whilst an Initiate can receive Epic loot, your DKP account cannot be overdrawn in excess of -200 DKP. The Officer's reserve the right to amend this rule without prior notice as they see fit.

CAN YOU CHANGE YOUR MEMBERSHIP CATEGORY?
A member of SoG may apply to change their membership from one category to another at any time. Guardian or Defender to Soldier will normally be granted immediately. However places in the Guardian and Defender category are or may be limited and applications will only be accepted where we have a class need.
