Hitman 2 : Silent Assasin

A truly awesome 1st/3rd person sneak/shoot em up. you can play this game anyway you want, go in all guns blazing or try for the really tricky Silent assasin rating at the end of each mission, to get this rating generally you are only allowed to fire 1 shot and have 1 alert/close call per level including taking out the target !! its real tricky.
storyline can drag on a bit tho but on the whole is pretty good without overlong cutscenes (but hey thats why they put an esc button on the keyboard right !). Loads of real good weapons to collect and display in your "shed" including firemans axe,scalpel,knifes,mp5 std + slienced,ak47,colt m4(real nice model with the scope etc),m60 machine gun,samurai sword,m105 sniper(for wrecking vechicles) plus some awesome sniper rifles including a couple of custom jobbies with digital range finders and ultra steady aiming.
i played the game through the first time and used a mix of (what i thought was) stealth and kill everything on the map and my average rating was mass murderer and it took about a week to complete and was good then i sussed the silent assasin bit and am now replaying from the start so far im upto lev 12 and have got SA now on all levels that i've finished, proper quality.
all the levels bar about 2 or 3 are large and very pretty with some of the best sound and weather effects ive seen for a while also the AI of the enemys is set just about right ie: they aren't psychic and cant see through walls etc but if you make noise when they are close they will come and check it out.
in short I LOVE THIS GAME. i would go so far as to say i rate it up there with the N64 classic goldeneye for playability etc, it wont have the same shelf life tho (i had the nintendo out the other day and spent 3 hrs trying to finish that bloody aztec level on 00 agent, had the damn game 4 yrs now and still want to finish it wow what a game) although getting SA on every level is a real challenge and its the only way to unlock some of the nicer hardware for yor shed.

If you want SA on every level then believe me it WILL take you a while  
I also adore Hitman, both 1 and 2, and yes I'm dully aware of all the issues that people quote when they knock it down.

It's a bit like Starship Troopers (the film not the game) you either get it or you don't. If MOHAA had had level design more like Hitman and less like the Metropolitan Line it would have been near perfect.

Try to get Ghost on every level too (kill everyone with no alerts). Frankly I'm sure this is impossible on every level, although I did manage it on the first level.

Maybe it's just me, but I found it tedious in the extreme.  I enjoyed Hitman 1 but this was like a lot of sequels - very pretty but with the soul of the original ripped out.  Same jobs, different locations.

I'm with Chimp boy and waiting for Splinter Cell. Can't comment on Hitman as I haven't played it.
