I had an interesting mail today in game and it might have some possibilities.  I suggest we have a TS conference about this one.

Greetings Teaelle

I am the Guild Master of Northern Guards. Our best players are currently looking for a new Guild to join. Our current Guild cant reach a big enough size for ZG+.  We will be talking about 10-15 players. Mix class (). We all have almost the best gear till UBRS but we lack a challenge. Have talked to Kregoron (he is Danish like me) about you might consider a Raid Group 2 with us involved. We would only join you with L60 players and peaople we can vouch for. Mos tof us got 1yr+ experience with WoW. I myself have been since Closed WoW Beta.
We have done Zg 8-10 times so got the hang of it. We know how to command and more important we know when to listen. I'm looking forward for your reply and awaits it with great anticipation and hope for the best. I am of course available for more information and i can form a complete list of names and class that would love to join.

Hey TL

I've with great interest, but also some concern, read the discussinos that has been going on lately since the new membership system was implemented. With great interest, because I see the great variety of views presented by the guild's members - with some concern because some of those views seem to be trying to drive the guild in the wrong directions. And don't misunderstand me here - those views heading for the wrong direction are not those of the officers (as of now atleast) :)

The latest thread on this subject was the one Tinilgawiel started about "The Defender rank being useless...", and that leaves us back to the discussion you and me had on TS while grinding in WS no too long ago - about how the Defender members don't have to put down any effort for the guild what so ever, and thus should get no promised raid spots or anything.
I sill follow your thinking on that matter, but however it is obvious that not everybody else does. If people will come to understand this if the system gets to settle in time, I don't know - but I would like to come with a suggestion to you and the other officers about it.

The reason why I present this to you first in a PM, is that I haven't really been thinking too much about it, and throwing stuff like this out in a already heated situation might not be the smartests thing to do:

How about, for every raid there are a fixed number of spots where Defenders have priority (maybe 1 pr. class is a bit too much, so say around 5 perhaps?). If you also add, that you as a Defender can't use your right for one of those 5 (?) spots more than once a week, you both ensure that all the defenders gets a fair chance for a spot once a week, and you also make a clear separation between the Defender and the Guardian rank.

The reasons why I think this would be a bad idea:
You take away spots that Guardians has earned by being dedicated to the raids and the Guild.
It might be a system that takes some extra effort to manage.

The reasons why I think this would be a good idea:
There are also many Defenders (more than there are room for in the Guardian spots) that also are very dedicated to the guild, and this way they would also get a small "token of gratitude" for their efforts.
There might be people that out of RL reasons just can't manage to fill the requirements of the Guardian ranks (as of now I'm myself barely able to manage 2 raids a week), and I think it would be a good think if we manage to give those the opportunity to raid some as well.

For now, I only hope for a second opinion on this. It would also be nice if you could present it to the other officers.

Just some quick numbers to think about:

We have 48 Guardians.
We have 11 Defenders.
We have 3 Soldiers who applied for Guardian but did not make it.
We have 21 additional Soldiers.
We have other members approaching L60 who have yet to raid with us.

Now I accept that maybe half the remaining Soldiers may not want to raid at all, but that still leaves us with about 72 players who want to raid, 48 of whom want to raid 2/3 times per week and the remaining 24 who would like the ability to raid occasionally.

If we sum all up all ppl that cant raid, guardians left out, alts, defenders and these lads i think this has a good potential if we start a second raid group

but these really should be settled in a conferance call

We need to calll a conference on this - I propose 19.00 tonight on TS in the Officer channel, or maybe even a bit before this.  Let's talk it through and make some decisions.

Personally, I think it is a good opportunity - we would need to talk to the GM in person I think, but it could be done.  Like it or not, we have an RG2 coming it seems, the members want it, it fills a need and it is going to happen either with or without our support, so we may as well deal with it and shape it as we prefer.

Wil we  be seperating guild into two groups ,or have two groups 1 filling upp with Guardians and then putting the rest into the other group?

Wil they be raiding at the same times?

'what I am asking is : Wil they be RG2 or a addongroup? Where wil they get their members from? And wil they pull resources out of RG1?

Hi Sazgul

Thank you for your mail. The officers of SoG have been discussing the possibility of an RG2 and think there are good possibilities here. It would help tremendously to have a list of names and classes before we take this further and I would be grateful if you could mail them to me. We would then suggest that we meet on our teamspeak server to discuss this in more detail and flesh out the detail. I hope this is ok and look forward to hearing from you.

QuoteThe Officers have been discussing the future of raiding within the Guild and limited number of places currently available. We have reached some conclusions and intend to move towards the following position:
  • The Guild will look to set up a Raid Group 2 as soon as possible

  • RG2 places will be prioritised to Guardian members not getting in to RG1 on that night and Defenders. (we will not be expanding the number of Guardians beyond the already posted 48)

  • RG2 will raid two nights per week, to Molten Core and Onyxia's Lair

  • RG2 will initially not raid BWL or AQ40 as these instances demand a raid group already experienced and equipped well from MC and OL

  • The RG2 will be led each week by two of the Guild Officers

  • The Guild will help to gear necessary classes (such as tanks) appropriately to ensure the success of RG2

  • The Guild will be looking to set up raids to AQ40 on a regular basis. More details will follow.

From the above profiles link (thanks Pent) some have already applied to us on the forums.  I await Sazgul's ingame mail with interest.

Give them the standard, thanks for the app, we'll get back to you.  Hopefully we'll end up talking to Sazgul in the next day or so once we get the class list from him.
