Steam/Half-Life 1/Mods/Counter-Strike

It used to be the case that you could go buy Half-Life 1 for something like £9.99, or was it £5.99, input the key into Steam and get HL1 and all associated Half-Life 1 mods, such as DOD, CS, TFC, DMC etc.

I just noticed recently that the original Half-Life 'Sierra Best Seller' or 'Platinum Pack' no longer exists in the shops.

IE, you can no longer get the original CS and other mods by purchasing Half-Life; even through Steam you have to purchase them seperatly?

I sometimes find the pricing on Steam a bit confusing too. They often have deals, with the same name as the game, which include other games. It makes it all very complex, if you're trying to figure out the cheapest way to get a selection you want.

That is annoying.
Is Counter-Strike:Source included with Half-Life 2 when you buy it in the shops?
What about Half-Life 2 Deathmatch?

ps. I don't want to purchase my self, just wondering. Well, I might have screwed up someone's Steam account and may need to compensate. (I registered their game on a Steam account they may or may not own, before someone shouts cheater)

What I've seen in stores lately is that you can also buy CS : S separatly from HL2.
So just CS : S.

the painful bit I found was that as I already owned HL2 (via DVD) I was not allowed to purchase the HL2 silver and get a 2nd copy even though this would have been the cheapest way for me to get DoD, CZ, and the other various titles I don't have. Therefore I had to buy CZ separately and didn't bother with DoD as on it's own it's far too pricey seeing as I already own HL2 <_< an option to upgrade yuor HL2 version from bronze/DVD to silver would have been nice...also not having to use the DVD AND steam would've been good for HL2... moan moan moan

I saw the games list, but the fact that verious games are included in verious packages, means there is a lot of clicking and maths to do if you want to purchase a good selection of games at the cheapest price, besides going streight for a valve pack and getting extras. Well, I guess I can't really complain about that

I don't ever remember purchasing CS:S. Was this included with HL2 pre-orders? I know Steam says it is not included with Half-Life 2. Which makes me wander how I got it >_>

They should make the purchase/registration history available to you.

I think it was included with the Silver Pack and upwards. IIRC the bronze pack didnt have it (me waits to be corrected)

Ah I forgot about those, they don't exist anymore. I though I got the Bronze though :huh:
