I jumped on a beginner  multiplayer but each time I played my engine caught fire.

I was the only player this happened too.

What am I doing wrong is there a setting or something or is it just my thrashing the gearbox?

Thanks

not had that happen :D I imagine you had your foot flat to the floor before the start with revs hitting the ceiling in anticipation? some servers might allow engine damage ... in which case this would not be a great idea?

Too high revs for too long time does that

Yes, you must watch for the red line on the rev counter.  Some cars have a light on the dash when you reach it.

JAS managed it twice when we were racing I seem to recall. Oh how we laughed as we careered past while JAS was grilling his sausages.  :roflmao:
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.
