Looking arround at a mythological nameing site i found nefertem today, also added my own, and marduks for good measure :

Nefertem

An ancient Egyptian god identified with the lotus, but he also personified some form of the morning sun. Nefertem is usually represented as a man with a cluster of lotus flowers upon his head, but sometimes he has the head of a lion. In the little faïence figures of him, which are so common, he stands upon the back of a lion. He represents the sun-god in the legend which made him burst forth from a lotus, for in the pyramid of Unas the king is said: "Rise like Nefer-Temu from the lotus (lily) to the nostrils of Ra" and to "come forth on the horizon every day."

Bastet

Bastet was originally portrayed as either a wild desert cat or as a lioness, and only became associated with the domesticated feline around 1000 BCE. She was commonly paired with Sakhmet, the lion-headed goddess of Memphis, Wadjet, and Hathor. Bastet was the "Daughter of Ra", a designation that placed her in the same ranks as such goddesses as Maat and Tefnut. Additionally, Bastet was one of the "Eyes of Ra", the title of an "avenger" god who is sent out specifically to lay waste to the enemies of Egypt and her gods.

Marduk

According to Enuma Elish, an ancient epic poem of creation, Marduk defeated Tiamat and Kingu, the dragons of chaos, and thereby gained supreme power. Acknowledged as the creator of the universe and of humankind, the god of light and life, and the ruler of destinies, he rose to such eminence that he claimed 50 titles. Eventually, he was called simply Bel, meaning "Lord."

Well mine has some verry different meanings around the world apparently.
Differing from "the destroyer of the world" to "heroic warrior".

In Egypt the wolf was seen as the guardian of the underworld and as god of death. The earliest East-Indian legends described the wolf as deceitful and evil, and Christianity went even further and set the wolf equal to the devil.

Indo-European mythology generally describes the wolf as being of demonic origin. In the Edda, the ancient Icelandic sagas, for example, the wolf is the symbol of mysterious powers: Odin, the god of war and death, was accompanied by two wolves; it was a wolf, Fenrir, that played an important role in the destruction of the world; two wolves chased sun and moon and at the end of the world they catch up on their prey

The word "wolf" itself has a very negative meaning: The Swedish and Norwegian term for wolf is varg, in Icelandic vargr, which not only means wolf but also is used for a wicked person. The Gothic word vargs (warg in Old High German, warc in Middle High German, verag in Anglo-Saxon) stands for murderer, strangler, outlaw, and evil spirit. The verdict "thou art a warg" declared the culprit an outlaw. Those people were banished forever from human society and were forced to live in the wild.

In one of the early East-Indian legends for example, the wolf is described as a sympathetic and helpful animal. There are several legends telling about female wolves nursing children, the most famous being the legend of Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome. The Mongols viewed themselves as "sons of the blue wolf", descended through Genghis Khan from a mythical wolf that came down from heaven. For the Romans the wolf was the symbol of the god of war. Connecting the wolf with war and death was not meant in a deprecatory way, it rather referred to the death of a big warrior or chief, and warriors have been called raging wolves, so there has also been something heroic about the wolf, which could also explain the numerous personal names connected with the word wolf.

All of my characters except 2 or 3 of them are named after some kind of mythological figures..
Ill give some examples    :

Legba (Nelf rogue): There are two of these, but I can only find the African boring one on the internet and that’s not the one I chose the name from, so Ill just be translating from the Danish mythological dictionary I have: Demonic Trickster figure by the Fon-people in Dahomey, who's being is characterised by change and transformation. He is considered to be the youngest son of Mawu and Lisa. The myths about him tell about incest, whoring, promiscuity and necrophilia. I his cult a girl representing Legba, is dancing around to the rhythms of the Legba-drum and holds in one hand a wooden fallos (a little wooden figure) with which she either masturbates with or uses to create the illusion of an intercourse with a female spectator. Legba is depicted with an over dimensioned or erected male organ.  

Livtraser (gnome mage): From Nordic mythology, the only man who survives Ragnarok (judgement day). His wife is Liv. They survive in Hoddmimers forest by drinking the morningdew. All future earthen life will descent from them.

Nergal (troll hunter)(Marduk as an alt of the same name): Nergal is an ancient Sumero-Babylonian deity and the god of the netherworld, where he rules with his consort Ereshkigal. He is an evil god who brings war, pestilence, fever and devastation. He is sometimes regarded as representing the sinister aspect of the sun god Shamash. He is the subject of an Akkadian poem which describes his translation from heaven to the underworld. The foremost center of his cult was the city Kuthu. His attributes are the club

Kotar (orc hunter): (Caananite, Phoenician, and Ugaritic) Patron of smiths, smithcraft, and metalwork. By extension, He was also regarded as Patron of arts and sciences generally, as well as architecture and engineering. Finally, he was understood to be the Patron of Magick, and the creator of Magickal incantations. In this last regard, He was also identified as the inventor of poetry. He was said to be the builder of the homes of the Gods and the provider of their weapons and tools. Originally, his forge was said to be located in Crete, but in later times he became synchretized with the Egyptian Ptah to a degree, and in that role he was said to be located at Memphis.

Tho......

In 1947 a Dutchman, Mirin Dajo, demonstrated to audiences in the Corso Theatre in Zurich, that he could allow an assistant to plunge a fencing foil right through his body, even through vital organs, without any apparent harm. Dajo did not bleed at the removal of the foil, and only a faint red line marked where the foil had pierced.

A Swiss doctor, Hans Naegeli-Osjord, hearing of Dajo's alleged wild talent, induced him to allow scientific investigation of what happened when he was pierced. In the Zurich Cantonal hospital many people, including doctor Naegeli-Osjord, doctor Werner Brunner, the chief of surgery at the hospital, and a number of other doctors, students, and journalist observed and reported on the experiment.

In front of them Dajo stripped to the waist and after spending some time in meditation, had his assistant once more plunge the steel through him. This should have damaged vital organs, but there was no apparent harm, although the witnesses were shocked. Dajo was then asked to allow an x-ray to be taken with the rapier still in place. He agreed, walked to the x ray theatre with the foil still in place. The result of the x-ray undeniably showed Dajo was pierced through vital organs. At a later date Dajo was again examined by scientists in Basel, and this time allowed the doctors themselves to pierce him. Each time there was no apparent harm.

Adularena: The name of a new hero that will define what is brave and heroic for all ages to come. This is a name of a hero that does not need the blessing of a powerful god or ancient hero. Adularena, the hero that will be remembered for her sly smile, voluptious breasts and the neverending backstabbing of ppl that doesnt show up at Guildmeets.
