i do so hope that really is true...  :D   :D   :D   :D   :D

That reminds me of a similar, but not nearly as physically damaging, experience when working in demolition years ago. We were taking off asbestos sheets from the roof of an old brewery in Swindon. The (bloody stupid) plan was to cut all the bolts holding the sheets (this involved standing unsecured on the edge of a pallette about 60 feet in the air under said roof on a fully extended forklift, with a pair of extremely heavy bolt cutters..) and then climb up onto the roof and slide a sheet off, move to the next one, slide another etc.

The first few sheets went well, crashing to the concrete floor below, but then i suddenly realised the whole roof was starting to slide. Without thinking i started to run to the far end of the roof as the sheets immediately behind me and below my feet were disappearing as fast as i could run.  :o  (like you see in cartoons)

By the time i got to the end of the roof every single sheet was either smashing itself to pieces on the concrete floor or was already on it's way down, leaving me to leap into a nearby tree, which i fell through for what seemed like forever, until landing at the bottom with a thump.

As i sat there somewhat stunned my boss (the John Wayne of cowboy demolition) came running round in tears, just barely managing to speak and tells me that was without doubt the funniest thing he'd ever seen in his entire life.   :?

No, i had to verbally agree that between the hours of 8am through to 6pm that the Health and Safety Act would not interfere in any way with my work.

i've put a bit on the profile page, but basically i'm born and bred in Oxford, and i'm self-employed building/running websites, mainly in the music industry - local music in particular, working within a kind of loose co-operative from an office in central Oxford (Ever heard of Shifty Disco, Star Harbour, Nightshift, The Point/The Jericho?).

As i have refused to s*** corporate c*** since i went s/e 7 years ago it means that i enjoy doing what i do, but earn very little from it.

   :)  and  :(

i'd tell you more, but i'm trying to be enigmatic

What about you? (open question to all)

Wintermute

We once had a 'zip line' when I was young running from the roof of the shed to a nearby tree.  It got taken down when a friend launched himself off the shed roof but forgot to hold on to the handle and fell flat on his face.  For a 9 yr old that was as extreme as the above.
