Landy STEAM_0:0:9833619

found him on baldric..  you know.. the ones for members only..

he gave it to scopey.. (STEAM_0:1:9971343) both sat there playing with each other..

told them not give the password out.. and not to play on our match server...
maybe change the password?

followed them into bod and gave them both a severe rollocking.

I assume that he has played us in a match at some point and got the PW from there. If that is the case then I think a formal complaint to BoD by TL/OB or Madness is in order!

Little gits!

Right, I've been onto the server only to discover that the password was stored in more files than I've had TKs. Consequently, I have edited all cfg file references to exec a password file instead of setting the password in each config file.

There are now TWO password files:
password_normal.cfg
password_war.cfg

so the match config files all have the line:
exec password_war.cfg

in them instead of directly referencing the password. Consequently, if we need to change the server password we only have to edit ONE file now :)

The files only contain the following info:

rcon_password "xxxxxxxxx"
sv_password "xxxxxxxxx"

If you want to change a password quickly then just exec the othe cfg file using RCON:

rcon exec password_normal.cfg <- will give you the Meathook password on the match server however it will be reset at map change when the war password config is called.

I have NOT changed the war password yet. Do you want me to and if so I shall choose something suitably elegant :)

Maybe it's good idea too change it,so it wont happend again :eyebrow:

Am I the only one that doesn't see that much of a problem here?  The password has been plastered all over many many ED matches since Baldric existed and this is the first time anyone's played on it, maybe a step back to get a little perspective on all this?

No harm done.

I don't think a complaint will help unless you adress it to Nethany.
Still, giving away a PW is a nono and using a server that isn't your without asking is also something they shouldn't do.

I disagree. he had no right to give out a password to OUR server. If he wants somewhere to play there is a public server and BoD have their own. Why didn't he give the other guy the BoD PW and play there?

I also disagree.... why didnt they get the pw for their match server to do whatever they had to do ..... :taz:

baldric is OUR server not theirs ..... there should be no reason that they need to go on an empty server that is pw protected by ANOTHER clan .... pair of a$$wipes.... I WILL be complaining to Neth.....we shall see just how the bond between the two clans has declined ....

Really, Nethany is one of the good guys up there. He was also the one questioning my ban as he himself has also put up some forumpost and so for our TCSnights.
I do wonder what Landy and co had to do there.

Not bad but I think it is already on the server. At least it was before in the following form (pasted from my command menu):

            "6" "MR12 Config" "rcon exec mr12.cfg"
"7" "Std Config" "rcon exec std.cfg"

I think OB set those waaaaay back.

std.cfg isn't there any more - don't know when it disappeared.

If you have RCON then you could always do rcon sv_password xyz123abc

Yup I know. Just wanted to make sure if we had a double set or not.

Sorry but I just think it's a mountain from a molehill, deadmen BoD relations are probably not at their best right now and frankly making a big deal out of this will only make things worse.  Just smacks me as "it's my ball and you cant use it without me playing, and I don't wanna play now".

Nobody said we are going to make a big deal of it but as an Admin I would certainly want to hear about it if someone from dMw did this on another server. It is unacceptable. I can't speak for Mad-ness but I would guess it would be something along the lines of:

Dear Neth, this happened, no harm done but it's not acceptable that people give out passwords of OUR match server. Can you please make your people aware of this.

I can't see more than that being needed but an approach IS needed.
