Have to agree with some of the others before me: I don't like the sound of this.

Right now I'm only talking for RG1 (same will apply for RG2 as well, only that it is relative "new" compared to RG1): we have been a raid group together for a very long time now (over a year if you count the danu alliance, and close to a year if you count only SOG).  There have been some people leaving and some new coming, but the majority of the raid has been mostly the same for a long time.
We're friends, we've worked together, we've faught together, we've bled together, we've concuered new bosses and instances together, we've gone through hard times together - all this to build a steady and firm foundation for the best raid group there is!  And now they wanna split us up

Sometimes (or perhaps I should say many times) I just don't get Blizzard

I will consider quiting wow if this happens.

what the hell are you smoking

this changes only one thing:
Less slacking around in raids

as for alot will leave wow...

1) They can decide what they want with their lives :)
2) If we make more RGs this will remain as it is now, I'm thinking RG1a RG1b, RG2a and RG2b or whatever you wanna name it.

Hope they enable Raidgroup naming too. :D

hmm not to thrilled about this one.... closer stronger groups maybe, but the shear logistics of this is fairly crap. spes for guilds like SOG that value friendship instead of pure raid focus

I am asuming that guilds like righteous and anything wont have as much of a problem as they seam to be more dictatorial.

Don't think it will make much difference then now. We might have to make the two raidgroups we now have into 4 and have a sort of signup for the 40 man content in stead. Either way I don't want to split it to hardcore/flabber. I want Guardians to be two groups, NAMED not numbered, and maybe have one group raiding daytime and the other in evenings. Same for Defenders ofc. Depending on schedueles and what fits best. If we would have to split the groups up a bit because of the expansion, I would at least like the teams to be treated equally.

The positive in this, is that it demands more of each player, and it allows hybrids to shine a bit more. So don't go flaming it just yet. I doubt they are making things easier contents wise, so I say bring on the battle :norty:

To be honest I don't this will be a big deal about splitting up friendship groups.

If it is managed well it shouldn't be a problem.

I would suggest maintaining RG1 as RG1 for 40 man instances; and using the signup system for officer led raids through the smaller instances.

Don't forget that getting a 10 pug for UBRS isn't that difficult, the new ones won't be either. 25 man might be harder - and here is where the sign ups work.

Just think, on a good night, we could have two entirely separate 25 man raids :D Awesome :D

I dont like this at all. I can see the idea in ppl have to be more on the focus on raids.

But personal I love 40 man raids. If they mean the instances are to easy for 40 man, why not just make them hardere ?

the problem isn't that they are easy, the problem is that people don't feel like the contribute to the cause, you don't have to use as many skills and hybrids aren't hybrids anymore.

First of everyone here seems to forget that not everyone will level at the same pace, it will be alot easier to gather 25 lvl70s then 40 lvl70 a month into expansion.

Secondly the diffrence isn't that big and this would just mean that there would be 3 or 4 groups. The diffrence between group 1 and 2 at the moment is gear, RG1 might have some more experience but that experience is mostly related to current tactics not overall knowledge. Also Remember what decides the raid groups will most likly not be what group you are in now it will be how fast you level up.

Yep, the raid groups will probably have to be put together from scratch. I doubt it'll be possible to split a raid group in two, since you have only 56 (max) people in it and you already have problems filling up a 40 man raid from time to time, nevermind two 25 man raids. Also keep in mind that not everyone will buy the expansion or level up at the same rate. Like Drazila already said; the groups will probably be contructed depending on how fast you get to level 70.

I think that in 25 man raid you will receive more gratification from completing a certain challenge, since your contribution to the success will be more clearly noticable. Isn't that something we all want?

And about splitting up a group of people that been together for a long time. Is it really that bad? You will still be in the same guild and will still be able to do stuff together.
Besides, I heard that they intent to let Naxx remain pretty viable for level 70 raids, so that might be the place to go with the 'old' raid group. In case you still want to be together for one evening a week for example.

I wonder what will happen to the people that dicide not to buy the expansion and still want to raid....

maybe we should make a forum and check whos gonna get the expansion when it comes out. i already preordered mine a few months ago

Bastet

Well, its still some months away, so i quess we will worry about this once the expension actualy is arround and we have lvl 70s enough for a group

Zabard

With the amount of time and dedication most of the SoG'ers give to this game, I don't see that many will skip buying the expansion.

The reason why blizz is making 25man instances will probably be because they expect 25 out of 40 to buy the expansion.

By making 25 man high end instances the guilds will not face problems by finding new people for their raid groups because not all have bought the expansion.
