We are delighted to announce confirmation of the dMw's 10th LAN party:

LAN X is on 6th - 8th October 2006

(Note for your diaries: dMw LAN XI is pencilled in for 20th, 21st and 22nd April 2007)

Please note that we have a maximum of 44 places and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Members of dMw's Charlie Company is hereby given advance notice of the event.
Bravo Company & SoG members will not be able to see this thread or book places at the LAN for a further 24 hours,
Alpha Company members will not be able to see this thread or book places at the LAN for a further 3 days,

To confirm your attendance please reply to this thread and then book your own room direct with the hotel.

LAN X Details:

Dates:  Friday 6th, Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th October 2006
Venue:  Oliver Cromwell, March, Cambridgeshire.
Times: The LAN venue opens at 11.00am Friday morning and the LAN will finish by 5.00pm on Sunday
Costs: For the venue - £15 total per head for the whole weekend
Costs:
Bed & Breakfast Accommodation: double occupancy £33 per person per night, sole occupancy £50 per room per night
Room Availability: 35 x Double; 8 x Twin
If you book a Twin Room and want to share the costs of the room then when you post in this thread to confirm your attendance then also make a note of the fact you have a Twin room booked and are looking for someone to share with.

As before, the reduced accomodation and function room rates have been negotiated on the basis that the majority of the attendees will partake of the excellent cuisine offered by either the hotel restaurant's Fixed price, A La Carte or Bar menus on the Friday night.  JOIN US for the WELCOME DINNER on Friday evening in Ballroom 2 at 7.30pm.
Eating at the hotel is NOT mandatory, but I am sure that any attendee from the last couple of LANs will vouch for the quality of both the food and the company!

The Oliver Cromwell offers:PLEASE BOOK YOUR OWN ACCOMMODATION DIRECT WITH THE HOTEL - CALL THEM NOW!
When calling you *must* mention that you are booking in on the dMw rate, otherwise they will charge you full price!
ALSO:
When booking your room please give them both your real name AND your GAMING NAME so that I can keep tabs of who has booked and who has not.

When the Oliver Cromwell is fully booked you will need to book into the The Olde Griffin Hotel, March, Cambridgeshire which is 200yds down the road or a B&B etc.

Amongst other things the LAN will feature:

- a list of officially supported games (BF2 and CS variants will both be there)
- organised competitions
- official LAN Admins
- late night gaming

With your participation the 10th anniversay LAN will be a great one, so book your place now to make sure you do not miss out!

Enjoy!

TL.

Note for International Travellers:
As we usually have some people attending from overseas I thought the following might help:
The LAN accomodation costs are above, it's cheaper if you agree to share a twin bed (two single beds) room with someone of course.
The LAN venue we charge at £15 per person for the whole weekend.
Other costs: Food and drink - this depends on you. Personally I eat my meals (Fri lunch through to Sunday lunch) in the hotel's fine restaurant, I have a bottle of wine with each meal and my food and drink bill usually comes to about £160 for the weekend. Others buy sandwiches, get burgers etc, stick to beer not wine etc and and their bill runs to maybe £50-60 for the weekend depending on what and how much they eat & drink.
Travel: Any London airport works well, Stanstead & Luton are closest. Heathrow is ok, Gatwick is further but still doable. If you book your flight tickets we'll make sure someone picks you up and takes you back - post on the forums for a lift and you are usually sorted out very quickly as other attending members appreciate the international effort made!  Other airports are also a possibility - if in doubt post and we'll see if anyone would be travelling past your airport!
Computer - if you have a shuttle or laptop then you're probably sorted (unless hand luggage rules cause you problems) but if you cannot bring your own PC then post in the LAN section to see if someone is willing to lend you a spare PC for the weekend.  Many people have done this in the past and it seems to work well!

Edit:
What are the plans for the Sunday?
The last time everybody was pretty fast gone, what time will the LAN +/- end?
I can book a flight back for:
Departure: 14.40 (UKtime)
Or the normal one which I allways took:
Departure: 19.25 (UKtime).

Historically people always tend to leave after lunch on Sundays, so the 14:40 would mean you leaving early, the 19:25 gets you 100% LAN enjoyment and a small wait at the airport to enjoy the slightly more thorough body search you will have to go through

Again? Who's telling the coppers about me?
I hope a few others leave again from Stansted. Me and Delan did have a nice chat on the airport (beer and a burger :flirty: ).

Yeah - count me in as well.  Will file the necessary absence forms with SWMBO, and book my room this evening.

As much as I like my colleagues, I'm not going to utter my gaming name in an open-plan office, and gift the gits a urine-extracting opportunity...

EDIT: Double room booked.  And I still felt a right plonker giving my gaming name.
