Maturity in gchat

Recently the Field Marshals have noticed a worrying increase in the amount of swearing and other dubious stuff we dont really want to see in the guild chat. We ask members to clean up their act a bit and remind themselves that we do have some younger members and a range of cultural backgorunds some of whom might not appreciate the current amount of badmouthing in the gchat. We don't want to starting banning anything, we're just asking for your cooperation in keeping gchat a little cleaner than it has been recently.

Keeping it clean, its cool, as long as you dont censurate it. Younger members? put on profanity filters, same thing as with when someone had a son that he didnt want to read the cursing.

I mean, why moderate everything? have you officers recieved any complaints? if so, scratch this. I mean, you'll prob wanna smack my face for bringing this up, but i've loved the guildchat since the beginnig. If you wanna curse, curse, because that only means you cant find a synonym that fits your mood, or expression.

I'd still take Addy's boobs,ass, and manwh0re jokes anytime over some moderating. Its awesome that you want us to have a good guild enviroment, but dont moderate, atleast take a poll. An Anonoumous one so that noone will vote "just because my fav. officer wants too". Or make a 3d part make the poll, count the results and let officers handle it.

Its a delicate subject, and we wont moderate unless we need to. Sometimes you also have to think about what you are saying tho, and thats the point we are trying to make with this post

What im saying, it just means you cant find a synonym for it.

PLease dont moderate it heavily, i can understand it if a post/chatline goes like this "FUDGE AS S SHITE HELL C'UNT )/¤(!=)/(¤!`="#/¤!`!!!!!" or "***** *** ** ** * * **************  ******" as it is on this forum, could be moderated. But dont take it away, if you're offendend, you often let the person know, i dont know how many times i've whined to The skeg crew (or ex skeg crew) for making the AFK jokes when it really hurt. But i'd rather have that for some moderating. No wonder we get so many applicant , our guild and guildchat is the best. EOD.

We aren't moderating, we are asking ppl to moderate themselves keeping the gchat itself clean. We do not wish to moderate, nor feel that we need to. We have just seen that recently things have gotten _well_ out of hand. We all love to joke around, and we should continue to have a good mood in the chats. But we can do that without lowering it to a rasist or sexist level. By all means have fun! But keep in mind that we are probably one of the most cross cultural guilds around. You have no idea how different certain things can be taken in another culture. Need I remind you of Ace Ventura 2? :flirty:
 
As for these lovely forums hosted by dMw, we need to at least show maturity. The least we can do is take off our muddy boots before trampeling their carpets. We have been welcomed here and we go by their rules and policy.

Well, this sounds boring. SoG gone Big corp. style making ppl wear powersuits. Saying anything else would make me a hypocrite. And god knows I dont like hypocrites.
 
This is easy for me, I`ll make an alternate guildchat channel.
The guild chat channel is dead, if not for the banter in it, there is nothing in there other than:
 
"hi/lo/bb"
"Can anyone please help me with XXXXX" as wich the reply is "     " wait! no reply.
 
making the guildchat boring doesnt make it more productive. It just takes away what little common grounds of banter it is left, since the guild is kind of separated up in raidgroups anc clicks anyways.

Sometimes I think that some of the ppl in the guild that is very upset by my jokes, yes JOKES! are ppl that doesnt have any good friends. Some good friends that (not litteraly but figuratively. ok ok, the same ppl here are the same ppl that does not want to undersand so I wont bother explaining more.) kick you in the nuts, then you both laugh and pat eachother on the back.
 
So: if the guildchat is left without the good old oldschool SoG badmouthing (nothing which is ment in a true negative way) it is left dead.

The profanity filter as provided by blizzard is an odd beast, and hardly useable at the best of times, since it also seams to have an apitite for non english languages such as dutch. And since most of us dutchies like to talk dutch to one another you are pritty much forced to have it off without having half the sentence sensored.
 
Also, a little joking arround is nice, but it shouldnt scare off other members.

One of the better replies i've gotten from you Vargen. I understand, just want our banter and fun in the guildchat. Exessive use of cursing is just. erm.. "harry" ?
 
Or, we couldmake a seperate channel, named "Sog****&Banter" where you *could not* enter if you where easily offended. KInda like watching Jackass and not being comfortable(well,comfortable is relative) with vomiting and pain
