End of an Era

It is with profound sadness that I have to announce that Ragnarh's temporary break from raiding is to be a little longer and more permanent than the Field Marshalls had hoped.  Ragnarh has decided to stop raiding and will therefore be stepping down as MT1 for Raid Group 1.  He will remain in SOG, but does not currently plan to return to raiding again.  If he changes his mind then any return to raiding would almost certainly be with a different character.  

Ragnarh's contribution to SOG's raiding and his influence in the Guild's success has been immense.  I have had the privilege of working closely with Ragnarh over the past 15 months or so and thought it would be appropriate to highlight his efforts as a small way of saying thank you.

Since SOG started raiding Ragnarh has been almost omni-present and he has amassed almost 10,000 DKP in MC & BWL, with a further 1,200 in AQ40 and Naxxramas through his time with RG1.  I believe has also been present at and part of every 'first kill' SOG have ever had, with the exception of the Twin Emperors last Tuesday night.  

Ragnarh's contribution to SOG has gone beyond the countless hours he has spent raiding with us as from the start he has been an Officer of the Guild and involved with the behind the scenes work necessary to keep a guild like SOG running.  This work is hugely time consuming to say the least and adds even more to the overhead on an MT1, one of the positions where raid life is constantly busy.

On a personal note, I met Ragnarh for the first time when I was first invited to raid MC with the SOG/Danu alliance.  He was one of the regulars in our post-MC raid Tribute runs into Dire Maul and my introduction to that Tribute run group and the friendships that developed within it were the reason that I chose to become a Silver Oak Guardian rather than join the then more successful Danu.  I say "then more successful" because Ragnarh's efforts have been part of why SOG is now as successful and arguably more successful now than Danu.

To the character Ragnarh: your skill & expertise will be missed.

To the friend: Please keep popping onto TS like last night, keep posting on the forums and keep in touch.

Thats just sad imo :S Really a big loss for RG1 loosing one of our absolutely best tanks.....

I had the pleasure of meeting Ragnarh IRL, and he's one of my favorite persons in the guild with his twisted humor and extreme tanking skills
 
I really hope that taking a break, will make you come back and raid with the guild... you will be sorely missed

Big thanks for all the effort you've put in to help make SOG what it is today (kickass!), and rest easy that we have some well trained rockhard (and mostly fireproof) Tanks to abuse in your absence.

hmm im out of words. it's a sad day for the guild and the wow comunity to loose one of the best tanks on aszune. all i can say is Ragnarh u will be missed. we have already missed your prescene in the last few raids.
 
i hope your long break will make u want to come back to the life of raiding again with SoG. in the meantime have a nice RL and i hope that we hear frome u from time to time.
