A reasonable request I would have thought. It's my first time to  :oops:  But from what I gather, bring all the computer gear you have. Think along the lines of setting up your home setup in a er.....conference room.
Bring cds of anything you might need in the event of a disaster. Anything you might want to swap/sell, Money for entry fee, booze and grub, change of underpants, unless of course you go commando. Oh and a big sign to hang round your neck to let everyone know who the hell you are!
Have you booked accomodation? If not, forget all of the above.

this will be my 3rd dmw lan coz im hardkore and been there sincethe 1st, also i have been to the biggest lan to ever take place in the UK [nearly 1000ppl!]  this was i10 which also happend to b my 1st lan! since then i have been to i12 which was about 600 ppl i think

Going off of the last LAN action …….we set up our stuff……we have a basic agenda for the games to be played i.e. a tourney or knockout….this time is a bit different as we have more people than one game can host so I am not sure how we will cover this at the mo.

CS will be a big part of the action im sure but other favourites are UT/ UT2003/ghost recon/serious Sam 2 and any others people want to try

As this gaming jive is happening, also a fair amount of file share (exit to the bar while waiting) is going on..And some of the sociable people actually talk to each other

Smite and me will also be taking the mug shots of all you people pulling game faces

Then the strippers will arrive followed by the girls Italian beach volley ball team who have been paid to nurse our weary gamming fingers (this may not be 100% correct but I am working on it) :thumbsup:

Then off to get food and beer and chat about all the good things in life …….play some more  with of course the beer now taking full effect………retire off to bed and restart all the fun the next day till people have to go :cry:

When is the topic of this whole section.

Basically it's a great big social event where everyone has a blast.  We play computer games throughout Saturday and Sunday.  We break up the fun with a meal on Saturday night (choice of either an indian or a chinky this time round) and we have more gaming after the meal.

You book your own accommodation - the Griffon is full now I think, but there are other places mentioned in the thread.

Bring all of your PC gear - set it up at your 'desk'.  We have booked a smallish nght club this year, so we will have plenty of room and tables for the PC systems etc and they will all be securely locked up when we are not there.

Bring all of your gaming software and anything you might need to reinstall in a hurry if your machine goes pear shaped.   There will also be several leech files set up to allow people to download any other files they want over the network that is set up.

All of the machines are connected to the same local area network (hence LAN).  You therefore need to make sure that you have a 10/100 ethernet card in your computer (otherwise you will be unable to connect up to the gaming LAN).

During the weekend several differentgames are played, and there are usually some *evaluation* copies available for you to install if you do not own your own copy of any particular game.

This time there will also be an element of a formal agenda - there are too many peeps to just let it run freelance, so there will be some onrganised games  and competitions to opt in or out of as required.

It is a hellishly sociable and good fun event.  Be there!
