Thats touching.
Imagine never knowing or remembering your kids? And good thing theres people like his wife, when you find a woman like her, hold on to her.
Just see how happy he is when is wife walks into the room .. :/

But at least he has no memory of a Christmas alone, homeless and without friends.........perhaps he is indeed blessed......fot that is not the case for many thousands, and they have the memory to take forward with them.....which do you believe is the more miserable??!!:tumbleweed: :tumbleweed:

Actually an interesting question there Dingo :g:
One thing though - does the man himself actually know that he has that kind of amnesia, or is he blissfully ignorant of it?

He thinks he's passed out or something every time he restarts.

Meh, i'd rather have the worlds "torments" and getting my feelings hurt once in a while(sometimes its more often, thats how we all get it) than just remembering my wife.

I mean, think what he misses, how much love he misses, he cant remember his children, so how can he "love" them? But thus, this shows how strong his feelings for his wife is, he cant remember himself, but his wife.. thats another case ;p (this sounds like Glamour  )

But of course, it'd be nice to not wonder about africa, children everywhere dying, aids, other illnesses, friends hurting, loosing people you love, getting dumped ;b

But then again, it isnt always the one hurting who has it the worst in a family, its often the family.

Stryker

Found this video on the same site.... so funny.  The best part is when the guy reviews the "david" game on the first cartridge.

Its basicly god created earth, god created man, god created bootleg nintendo games and this angry nintendo nerd rips em to hell.  BTW, its a 2006 video.

" Although these amnesic patients could not remember any events that occurred after the surgery they still however were able to recall and retain some memories of events that occurred before the surgery.  This indicates that the hippocampus is not a storage area for events but a foundation where memory storage begins. The intelligence of the amnesic patients were not affected at all and they could still memorize a list of words if rehearsed and left totally undistracted.  Another interesting fact is that these patients were able to learn new skills and procedures for doing tasks even though they did not recall ever doing the task before (Allard, 2001)."

That much be awkward. Good link from same site.

Akall

I think that his illness is more painfull for people around him that for him itself.

It is the personification of a thought that some ancient philosophers had about time and its existence: time for them had no logical foundations as past is passed so it is not (--> It does not exists). Present passes too quickly and it is just for a moment (--> It does exists for a fraction of moment but too short to perceive(?) it) and future it is nothing yet (--> It does not exists).

Hmmm I think my english is not very understandable there, but philosophy is complicated to explain also in my mothertongue. :g:

In any case, this makes me think a lot...

I got your point. Yeah, time is a fleeing concept. If you really want to mess it up we could discuss eternalism, whether past and future are real or not :norty:
