Because all the great simpsons episodes are in the past - recent series aren't a patch on the old ones (still good I admit, but not fantastic), so what left is there to tell over 90 minutes in a movie?  I love the show but simply can't get much enthusiasm for more recent episodes.
 
I'll check it out on DVD, but why would I drop £10 to see it at the cinema when I can just watch 3 of the classic episodes from season 3/4/5 :g:
