gave up half way through due to boredom

I get rather hooked by the GTA series myself. Anything from 2d top-down mayhem to cruising across the states on a harley in San Andreas... all good fun. GTA3, Vice City, San Andreas, similar maybe but all good imo :)

Oh, and I found F.E.A.R. really fun - the enemy were amongst the best AI I've dispatched.

Sheepy appears and begins to stroke my head. According to his slurred drunken speech I am "lovely and like a fuzzy felt". Thankfully he soon leaves and passes out somewhere. [/quote]

A wave of replies.....

I've done the GTA thing and finished F.E.A.R and yes, both good, but I want more I tell ya.

Thanks for the offer Sheepeh, the only thing is I haven't the free time to dedicate to more than 1/2 hour at a time, so am happy muddling through when I can.

You can never go wrong with Civilization. Seriously. Any edition will do, and they even ported it to several portable devices.

Another good old HL-mod is Natural Selection. Half FPS, half RTS, double the fun! Currently in beta-testing towards 3.2 and with NS2 on Source in the works.

I always liked that. you can get it for free with Scumm.

Don't waste your time on Oblivion mate, it's all wavy grass and NCP's who can't string a coherent sentence together.

My advice is to load up a DOS emulator and burn the crap out of tiny people in Syndicate. I can loose weeks to that game. Failing that you could have a laugh with Postal2. Nothing like beating a shop girl unconscious, setting her on fire and then taking a leak on her burning corpse..works for me.

Manhunter was OK for a week or two. Although killing people by suffocating them with a plastic bag looses its novelty appeal after a bit.

But my all time favorite boredom killer has to be Citizen Kabuto. Pure class. It's got British Cockney Space Marines. beer, topless mermaids, beer, death and beer. It's the pinnacle of gaming excellence and yours for eight quid

You scare me

But think I'll try out some of those games anyway :D

Edit: Never enjoyed Syndicate though!

Citizen Kabuto does indeed rock, although it had strange FPS issues on my old PC - ran waay slow compared to everything else, even though the PC was well above the recommended specs, so I never got all the way through it.

What about "Armed and Dangerous"? that was an absolute classic!

Who could forget the Land-Shark gun?

DuVeL

Fall Out was also pretty good and I've played that alot.
Also Comanche 3 is a game I sometimes dust off.
What about olschool: Quake!

Just go through your old stack of games and have a look at memory lane
Survivor of LAN V, VI, VIII, IX, X, XII, XIV, XVI, XVIII, XX, XXIV, XXX, XXXII, XXXIV and XXXVI so far...

Armed and Dangerous was an homage to the mighty Kabutu but a fine fine game in it's own right. For me the best weapon was the Topsey Turvey Bomb, and I loved Rexus the stunky gnome chap.

I think Benny ought to brush up on his C++ and make his own game....

Vegbians - Queens of the Cucumber Patch..... it's Gold I tell you, pure Gold!

Dr Sadako

Oblivion is not worth the time. Played it yesterday and today in total 2 hours and I was already bored. Sure it is fun with cool graphics (8800GTX and all) but the feel was just not right.

I loved Syndicate Wars - great fun.

I also played a lot of Shadow President or it's successor Cyber Judas - anyone tried that?

smilodon

Ah yes I do remember that. I was probably the worst President ever....(looks at the current president) ......second worst president ever.
