QuoteSmilodon - ?? it saddens me that one in our midst is vehemently opposed to musical inspiration and the power in live improvisation through the medium of electric guitar .... Jimi Hendrix "A Legend that will live forever in time"

For me that whole sixties thing was something I'm glad I wasn't arround to be part of. While it may have played a part in shaping my world (which is debatable) looking back on the language, fashon and culture of that time just makes me laugh.

Of course my generation was no different and I was just as guilty of taking the ego trip as any hippy. Except for me it was Punk Rock that we listened to and Sid Vicious that we worshipped. It was all the same though. Everyone trying to be more Punk and more weird than the next person.

Although it was a marginally less rediculous period than the '70's which again I was thankfully too young to get caught up in. [/b]

..........did you also listen to Captain Sensible by any chance??

QuoteBack in the late 60's there was nam , racial inequality , unemployment and lots of drugs.

I agree and there were plenty of people who fought the injustices and bigotry that had taken over the US during the '50 and early sixties. Some of them were hippies and some of them weren't. And the ones who weren't seem to have done the most for civil liberties and personal freedom.

Smiley - given the contents of your car cd player with all of that commercial dance crap I simply cant take you seriously

Apart from punk (which I admit has great merits) you're always telling me about those raves you went to - You grew up in an age where it was cool to wear a t shirt with a smiley yellow face (  :) ) and sing "Aciiiiid" in as high a pitch as humanly possible. Oh dear oh dear oh dear

I think the music of the sixties and seventies has certainly aged much better than punk, with the definite exception of the Clash who still rock and wrote some great tunes, plus other notable singles by people like the buzzcocks.

House music sucks.  Full stop.

You just make it up as you go along don't you. I've never been to a rave in my life. I was in my mid twenties when house music arrived (hardly gowing up with it). But if it fits your arguement you go right ahead and invent what you like.

Back in the real world what I do or do not like musically is of no consiquence at all. It neither negates nor confirms my opinions. So I like listening to Hardcore balearic and Ambient Trance in the car. Bearing in mind I clock up a good 20,000+ business miles year, for me it's background music while I drive. Does having Gorecki on the Cd player at home, or a hard drive full of Union Underground and Sum41 make my opinion of JH more or less valid?.

And if you consider the Buzzcocks to be punk you really do have no clue what you are waffling on about.

Of course we are at least in accord that White Riot is the finest Skinhead band on Earth. Oh the fun we've had driving to Waitrose STOMPING to the glorious sounds of   "Sieg heil  we're back again".

That was funny - managed to download anymore matey  :?:

Can your sources get hold of that song the fat bloke sings in American History X - playing that on an endless loop might enable you to tolerate having another day trip out with me
